Carlisle jumps

Jump racing holds sway across the UK and Ireland on Sunday with three meetings taking place across the afternoon.

First off is Carlisle before they go at Naas and Warwick. Among our horse racing tips for Sunday is one for trainer Ann Hamilton who will be looking to follow up after a solid win last time out.

16:00 Carlisle - Hello Judge @ 11/4

An impressive winner last time out at Carlisle, Hello Judge took his course record to three wins from six runs at the Cumbrian course and connections will be looking for more from him again today.

He had not shown much this season with a string of middling performances where he never really bothered the winners, but a return to Carlisle seemed to bring out the best in him.

He led pretty much the whole way round, and even though he came under pressure at times it did not seem to bother him and he pulled clear in the closing stages, putting the race to bed from two out.

Today’s move up to three miles is a slight step into the unknown as he has never contested a race longer than 2m5f under rules. However, he has been put up only 5lb for his win and some of his best work has been done in heavy conditions which suggests he will have the stamina for a race such as this.

If he can replicate his performance from three weeks ago he has every chance here.

16:45 Naas - Kinturk Kalanisi @ 5/1

Kinturk Kalanisi has been running reasonably well in his debut season over fences, with two second places and a third to his name and, most importantly, he has made steady progress in each of his three runs.

He made his debut over fences in November and looked to be very much a work in progress when finishing way down the field. However he took a big step forward on his next run at Fairyhouse in December where he was not perfect.

He jumped a bit lazily and seemed to idle a bit when hitting the front which ultimately cost him the race. However he showed that he has some ability in Chases.

Last time out he put in arguably his best run, jumping much better and seemingly concentrating more on his racing. He was able to deliver a challenge in the closing stages but was just held by the smart-looking Three Card Brag (who has an entry in next month's Grand National).

Kinturk Kalanisi ran on well, though, and the signs were there that he is a horse on the up, and should go well again.

This is an Extra Place race, meaning that Betfred will pay 4 Places (1/5 Odds) instead of 3.

16:58 Warwick - Illico De Cotte @ 3/1

Illico De Cotte has shown throughout his relatively short career that he has bags of stamina.

He has been campaigned for only two seasons but in that time he has shown that he has the ability to win over long trips. He produced a number of good performances in and around the three mile mark, over hurdles last season, winning once.

He continued in that vein when switched to chasing at the beginning of this term and got off to the perfect start when winning at Cartmel over 3m2f under top weight.

He has been tried over shorter since and has run well but was unable to get to the line first. He ran reasonably well last time out and although he finished some way back from the winner he stayed on to take second in the closing stages.

Today's step up in trip looks likely to suit Dan Skelton's runner and although he has not been tried over a marathon distance, his form suggests it will suit.

This is an Extra Place race, meaning that Betfred will pay 3 Places (1/5 Odds) instead of 2.
