Fontwell Park Racecourse

Jump racing holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Sunday with four meetings taking place across the afternoon. First off is a Flat card at the Curragh before they go to Uttoxeter, Kelso and Fontwell.

Amongst our Sunday fancies is one for trainer Alexandra Dunn who is seeking her first winner of the season over jumps but could find it at Fontwell.

Sunday Racing Tips

  • 3.25 Kelso - Mister Moodles @ 7/1
  • 4.25 Fontwell - Toad Of Toad Hall @ 11/2
  • 5.35 Fontwell - Got Grey @ 14/1

3.25 Kelso - Mister Moodles @ 7/1

Our first selection of the day runs in the competitive 2m handicap hurdle for horses rated 0-150, and down at the bottom of the weights the Rebecca Menzies runner MISTER MOODLES is of serious interest.

The six-year-old gelding opened his account in a 2m½f novices' hurdle at Doncaster in December where he pretty much made all.

All of the hurdles on the home straight were omitted on the day so he showed a great attitude to hang tough in front for so long.

A good runner-up finish behind the well-backed Support Act followed at the same track, and he had excuses when down the field on soft ground at Carlisle when last seen.

Mister Moodles is an interesting horse on his handicap debut after a short break.

4.25 Fontwell - Toad Of Toad Hall @ 11/2

Trainer Alexandra Dunn is seeking her first winner over the jumps this season, but she has a brilliant 22 percent strike-rate at Fontwell in the last five seasons and TOAD OF TOAD HALL could be up to landing the 3m2f handicap chase.

The eight-year-old has been pulled up on his last two outings so he comes with obvious risks attached, but he won twice at this venue last term, including when bolting up by 47-lengths in this corresponding race 12 months ago.

Toad Of Toad Hall has two ways of running. He will either run no race at all or he will win doing handstands and we're willing to take the chance to find out.

5.35 Fontwell - Got Grey @ 14/1

The final pick of the day runs in the closing 2m1½f handicap hurdle, where the former Gavin Cromwell-trained GOT GREY can get off the mark for Helen Nelmes in the hands of Charlie Price.

Cromwell couldn't get a tune out of this horse at all, but he ran a hugely eye catching race on debut for this yard when fourth to Secret Squirrel at Taunton in April when sent off a 250/1 no-hoper.

He made an awful mistake at the first hurdle, but recovered and made smooth headway approaching the third-last. Despite being unable to land a blow on the front three, it was a good effort.

Got Grey ran better than his finishing place would suggest at Hereford last time as he led until the second-last and just got tired late on, but he has a chance here off 5lb lower.
