Horse Racing Tips: Owen’s fine run of form to continue on Sunday

As the countdown to Christmas begins, we are treated to one final day of horse racing action in Britain on Sunday with two meetings taking place across the afternoon. First off they go at Lingfield with an all-weather card, before the jumpers go to war at Fakenham.
Amongst our Sunday fancies is one for trainer James Owen who is a course winner and should relish a return to Fakenham, a track that is likely to spark him back into life.
Horse Racing Tips - Sunday, December 22
12.13 Fakenham - Star Legend @ 10/3
The opening 2m7f handicap hurdle at Fakenham is a competitive affair, but top weight STAR LEGEND could have his rivals' measure when returning to a track that he has run well at in the past.
James Owen's five-year-old son of Galileo has been very disappointing in three starts since his summer exploits, but the dual-purpose performer has form figures which read as 132 around this course.
His last success came here over 2m4f back in November 2023, where he got on top late on soft ground, but he is ground versatile and his hopes hinge on a return to this venue bringing out the best in him.
Owen's form is another thing to consider. The stable is operating at around 22% over jumps this season, which is something else and this runner should be able to defy a mark of 98 with a good 5lb claimer aboard.

14.13 Fakenham - Samourai One @ 4/1
Three of Lucy Wadham's last four runners have won at odds of 22/1, 17/2 and 4/5, while the handler has a phenomenal strike-rate at Fakenham, with a 28% return here in the last five seasons.
Wadham is operating at 50% here this season thus far with two winners from four runners, and SAMOURAI ONE can enhance that record in the 3m5f handicap chase, which is going to take some getting.
The seven-year-old son of Montmartre has never gone further than 3m2f, but he gave the impression lately that this further examination of stamina could be just what the doctor ordered.
A rallying third over 3m2f at Fontwell on his return in October, he only found the progressive Lunar Contact too strong (won again since) here over 3m latest, coming from rear to stay on well at the death but the bird had flown.

14.43 Fakenham - Zhang Fei @ 6/4
In the 2m handicap hurdle, Fergal O'Brien's ZHANG FEI should be well up to the job in the hands of Fern O'Brien, who will claim 7lb.
The six-year-old son of Camelot can race too freely at times and that's probably what cost him when reeled in late when second at Stratford in October over 2m3f.
He was then rushed up to lead again about half a mile from home at Taunton, but again he didn't conserve enough energy for the finish, but if he's held onto for a bit longer here, he has every chance.
