Horse Racing Tips – expect some magic at the Curragh on Sunday

There’s a combination of jumps and Flat racing on Sunday afternoon with action coming from Stratford, Newton Abbot, The Curragh and Redcar.
Horse Racing Tips - Sunday, July 20
14:50 Redcar - Gennadius @ 15/8
In races confined to apprentice riders, it often pays to side with some of the more accomplished jockeys and one could argue that the most promising rider that still holds an apprentice license is Joe Leavy, who is based with Richard Hannon. He takes the ride on board Gennadius for his boss on Sunday afternoon in the maiden on the Redcar card.
This son of Ulysses has been a bit frustrating to follow so far, finishing in the first three without winning in six of his seven starts to date but his standout effort was a neck defeat at Lingfield on his only try on soft ground and he’s going to get his conditions again on Sunday with plenty of rain expected.
The form of his subsequent defeat at Windsor is working out well and seven furlongs on fast ground at Catterick was probably on the sharp side when third since. However, that was still a creditable effort and a return to slower conditions should help bring his proven stamina into play.
There’s also the chance of an uncontested lead in this race with experience on his side and a good draw in stall three, given it’s generally an advantage to be drawn low over this course and distance. He sets the standard on form and is taken to belatedly shed the maiden tag.

16:15 Curragh - Magical Vision @ 7/1
There’s also a load of rain expected at the Curragh overnight and into Sunday so it may be worth taking a chance on soft ground specialist, Magical Vision.
All four of the mare’s wins have come with heavy in the going description, including her most recent success which came over this course and distance and she’s now back on her last winning mark.
Aidan Anthony Howard’s eight-year-old shaped like she needed her reappearance outing and ought to strip fitter with that run under her belt. She missed a Listed engagement since when a late non-runner but the fact she was entered at that level suggests she could be very well treated from this sort of handicap mark (75).
Odds correct at time of publishing.
