Horse Racing Tips: Trust your Instinct at Bath

A bumper day of racing is coming up this Easter Sunday with six meetings across the UK and Ireland. Cork and then Fairyhouse get the day going, then the Premier Raceday at Plumpton opens the British racing with Bath, Southwell and Market Rasen following soon after.
Amongst my Sunday horse racing tips is an unexposed one for William Haggas, who could be one to follow, dropping to the minimum trip.

15:06 Bath - Think Of A Name @ 2/1
A course and distance winner last season, William Knight's THINK OF A NAME looks to get his season off to the perfect start back at the scene of that victory.
His win here back in October was his first attempt at the minimum trip, having had three runs over 6f during the summer. One of those 6f runs included a good second at Newbury behind a fair sort who had finished third in the Chesham at Royal Ascot.
Following his win here, he did put in a disappointing effort in a decent novice event at Yarmouth, but that race may have come too soon and he was gelded soon after.
A mark of 75 looks fair for his handicap debut, and the return of Oisin Murphy to the saddle (on board for the win) can only help with the likelihood of more to come over this trip.

15:41 Bath - First Instinct @ 11/2
The thrice-raced FIRST INSTINCT for William Haggas will hope to start her season like she started her debut season, with a victory.
The Bated Breath filly was not seen until August, but wasted no time in winning. Despite being slow away both times, she won her first two races, each over 6f; a maiden at Nottingham followed by a Class 2 Novice race at Haydock.
Those wins earned her a crack at Group company when she stepped up to 7f for the Oh So Sharp at Newmarket. This time she was much better away from the stalls but was very keen, and that told in the latter stages as she faded away.
Her breeding suggests 7f should be fine, so it is interesting that she makes her reappearance over 5f, but her yard did similar with one at Newbury last Saturday, and they are in fine form, while First Instinct still has plenty of potential.

16:40 Plumpton - Centara @ 9/1
Paul Nicholls won this race last year with a similarly unexposed chaser, and he looks to repeat the trick with CENTARA.
The seven-year-old won twice over hurdles in the 23/24 season - both times over 2m3f at Taunton. The first came in a fair novice hurdle at the end of that December, with his second coming on his second handicap start at the end of April off a mark 5lb higher than what he carries on Sunday.
His first two runs over hurdles this season yielded little, and after a 77-day break, he returned last month to make his chase debut at Wincanton. He did well to finish third that day over a trip shorter than ideal while also racing keenly.
He needs to brush up on his jumping,g but the step back up to 2m3f should help, and as an unexposed chaser, it will be no shock if he improves from that debut run for his top stable.
