Horse Racing Tips: Three selections for Sunday

There is a mixture of Flat racing and jumps action across the UK and Ireland on Sunday, with three meetings taking place throughout the afternoon. Pontefract hosts a Listed contest on the Flat in Britain alongside an all-weather card at Southwell, while Tramore is the venue hosting the jumpers in Ireland.
Featuring in my Sunday Horse Racing Tips is an improving sprinter trained by Jedd O’Keeffe who can get back to winning ways in his favoured conditions.

16:12 Pontefract - Dan Tucker @ 2/1
The heavy rainfall at Glorious Goodwood ruined the chances of DAN TUCKER, who could only manage eighth in a competitive three-year-old handicap last month despite being sent off the 7/2 favourite.
The son of Dandy Man had been in good form since dropping down to five furlongs before that, though, following a short-head defeat in a big-field handicap at York with a comfortable victory over course and distance on his penultimate start.
He travelled like the best horse in that contest before powering clear in the final furlong, taking the rise into Class 3 company against his elders in his stride.
That race was a slighter higher band than this contest, and this lightly-raced sprinter, who is on an upward trajectory, should continue to progress with conditions more in his favour this time.

16:22 Southwell - Philanthropist @ 3/1
A proven liking for a synthetic surface is a major positive when analysing an all-weather card, and the standout bit of form in the seven-furlong handicap belongs to the James Fanshawe-trained PHILANTHROPIST.
The three-year-old son of Sergei Prokofiev is unbeaten in two starts on Tapeta, following up his comfortable maiden success at Newcastle with victory in a handicap over course and distance in April.
He travelled comfortably throughout that contest and looked to win with a bit more in hand than the winning margin of a head suggests, and that form could hardly have worked out better, with the runner-up now rated 27lb higher than that day after winning three of his next four starts.
Philanthropist has run solely on turf since, doing well to finish fourth in a good seven-furlong handicap at Ascot before not getting any luck in running at Doncaster next time and appearing not to quite see out the trip when upped to a mile last time.
Those defeats mean he’s just 2lb higher than when winning here in April, and he could have much more to offer now, dropped back in trip and returned to an artificial surface.

17:12 Pontefract - Miss Hathaway @ 9/2
MISS HATHAWAY ran some good races as a juvenile without winning, notably producing a good Topspeed figure when beaten just a head in a Thirsk novice in June last year, and she opened her account at the 10th time of asking on her three-year-old debut.
She notched a second career win when dropped into Class 5 company last time, travelling comfortably on the front end before putting the race to bed when asked to quicken, scoring readily by a length.
She’s been hit with a 5lb rise for that, but she ran a fine race to finish third from a wing draw in a Thirsk handicap off 2lb lower in June, and that race has worked out well, with the winner going in again and the fourth having won since. This new mark doesn’t look beyond her.
She made all on her only start over course and distance, and there is every chance she’ll be able to boss these rivals from the front. She can follow up on her latest win.
