Horse Racing Tips: Donald McCain to enhance terrific Perth strike-rate

Jump racing holds sway across Britain on what is a rather quiet Sunday with two meetings taking place across the afternoon. First off is Stratford before they go to Perth.
Among Sunday's horse racing tips is one for trainer Donald McCain who has an incredible 33 per cent strike-rate at Perth in the last five seasons so it is always worth paying attention when he sends one there.
Horse Racing Tips - Sunday, July 14
14:45 Perth - Malpas @ 7/1
Trainer Donald McCain doesn't venture to Perth in Scotland unless he has proper ammunition to go with and that's evident with the yard's statistics at the venue, returning an incredible 33 per cent success rate there in the last five seasons.
One of his two Sunday runners is MALPAS who will take his chance in the 2m handicap chase. Theo Gillard takes the ride on the nine-year-old who won for the first time over fences at Bangor over 2m1f in May from a mark of 100 and is only 4lb higher now.
He had valid excuses for finishing a remote last of four at Uttoxeter when last seen. He didn't stay the 2m4f trip on soft ground, but a return to this sort of distance back on better ground will be a huge help. Malpas's four career victories have come on a sound surface and if he cuts out the jumping errors, he can get his head back in front.
16:15 Perth - Lihyan @ 6/1
Moving on to the 3m handicap hurdle on the card where the Irish raider Paddy Elvis will be looking to make up for his fall over course and distance last time when in full control of the race for the Stuart Crawford team.
He is entitled to plenty of respect but Rebecca Menzies' LIHYAN rates as a big danger despite shouldering the burden of 12 stone. He was last seen running on into sixth in a valuable 2m7f Uttoxeter handicap last month and will find this assignment easier.
The handicapper has dropped him a pound for that run and talented 5lb claimer William Maggs maintains the partnership. A winner of a 0-125 handicap at Market Rasen in May, which was a tougher race than this, he is entitled to go well for all he needs to prove that he is as effective around here as he ran a poor race on his only previous try at the track.
16:45 Perth - Just Dottie @ 3/1
In the closing 2m handicap hurdle for conditional jockeys, JUST DOTTIE can get the job done. She readily cleared away to win over course and distance in May and wasn't beaten far into third when upped in class at Uttoxeter last time.
Rider Ben Smith can claim an extra pound here in the saddle which could make all the difference given the margins at stake, and a return to her favourite track should see her run another very big race.
