Plumpton scaled

Jump racing holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Sunday with three meetings taking place in the afternoon. First off is Plumpton before they go to Hereford and Down Royal.

Amongst our Sunday fancies is one for trainer Nicky Henderson, and with the yard bouncing right back to form this week at Aintree, he's a trainer to keep onside at present.

13:30 Plumpton - Godot @ 7/1

Somespring Special and Magistrato won't be hanging about on the front end in the opening 2m3½f handicap chase, and that should set the race up nicely for the Andy Irvine-trained GODOT to get his head back in front.

Generally it pays to side with horses up with the pace around Plumpton, but there will be so much speed on here early that it could be prudent to wait for Godot to make his move. Typically ridden with plenty of restraint, he should finish with a late rattle.

A course and distance winner in January off a mark of 106, the seven-year-old is now only 3lb higher in the weights, but he found only the progressive Duhallow Tommy too good off 110 in March.

Godot was down the field in a competitive 0-120 at Newbury when last seen and drops back into 0-115 company so he should go well.

Moving on to the 3m1½f handicap chase on the card, a case can be made for many but Emma Lavelle's MINELLA BUSTER has what it takes to make the frame in the hands of talented 5lb claimer Joe Anderson.

The eight-year-old Beat Hollow gelding hasn't been seen since finishing second over the extended 2m6f at Stratford in October. It looks like he has been waiting for better ground as all of his good form is on a sound surface.

Minella Buster is really nicely treated on the pick of his chase form. He was second at Taunton off a mark of 120 over 2m7f in November 2022, and now taking Anderson's claim into account is effectively running off a 10lb lower.

17:00 Plumpton - Crazierthandaisy @ 5/6

Nicky Henderson picked up a couple of Grade 1 wins at Aintree this week, and with the yard back in form after a horrific spell in March, CRAZIERTHANDAISY should be well up to winning the bumper.

Another of Ken Alexander's mares and sporting the famous Honeysuckle silks, she was well backed for her debut when third in a Huntingdon bumper in January, going down by three parts of a length.

She hit a flat spot and was outpaced over around three furlongs from home, but once she was asked to pick up she did so. This slight step up in trip will be a help as she looks the kind to excel in staying races later in her career.
