Naas scaled

Jumps racing dominates across the UK and Ireland on Sunday with three meetings taking place in the afternoon from Naas, Ffos Las and Sandown.

Among our Sunday fancies is one for trainer Evan Williams who has been out of form for some time, but who can take advantage of a tumbling mark around a course he enjoys.

Today's Horse Races

11.50 Naas - Ballybrack Wood @ 15/8

Second on his sole point-to-point start in 2022, BALLYBRACK WOOD appreciated the switch to fences when winning a beginners' on his chasing debut at Tramore last month and he rates as a bet in the 2m4f novice handicap chase.

There's no better trainer of a chaser in Ireland than Henry de Bromhead and, although this six-year-old son of Soldier Of Fortune ran well over hurdles when fourth of 16 over 2m6f off a mark of 97 at Ballinrobe in September, it's clear he prefers larger obstacles.

Ballybrack Wood was given a very positive ride by Darragh O'Keeffe last time out although it wasn't the strongest of races all being told, but he is a likely big improver on his second start in this sphere.

De Bromhead has a very good 20 per cent return at the track in the last five seasons and is banging in the winners at present so everything looks set for a big run.

12.20 Naas - Spasiba @ 4/6

In the following 2m maiden hurdle, it looks a perfect opportunity for the Willie Mullins runner SPASIBA to get off the mark over hurdles on what will be just his second start in this code.

A winner on the Flat over 1m2f at Roscommon in 2022 when trained by the Curling stable, he had his final start for that yard when second in a 2m Limerick maiden hurdle last Christmas.

The form of that race hasn't worked out quite well, but this son of Ultra has been kept busy on the Flat this year and he was far from disgraced when ninth of 30 in the Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh last time, beaten just over eight lengths.

Mullins has an incredible 37 per cent return at Naas in the last five seasons and he should be up to the task.

1.15 Ffos Las - Puddlesinthepark @ 9/1

PUDDLESINTHEPARK won here over this trip over hurdles in March 2023 and, although he has gone 11 chase starts without a victory since then, he should be able to take advantage of a tumbling mark at some point, maybe it will be today.

Placed off marks of 96, 97 and 100 earlier in the year, Evan Williams' runner is now down to a mark of 91 and he enjoys decent ground.

He was plugging on late when a distant sixth of 13 at Chepstow last month but there's a good chance that a return to this track will suit better.
