Horse Racing Tips: Abingworth can bounce back at Fakenham

A mix of Flat and Jumps racing takes place across the UK and Ireland this Sunday with five meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the early evening.
Among my Sunday horse racing tips is a newcomer trainer James Owen who has been in good form this spring and will be looking to bounce back after an error last time out.

16:35 Fakenham - Abingworth @ 2/1
ABINGWORTH has been in fine form this spring with a number of impressive runs. His rich vein of form started at the beginning of March when he secured an impressive third place at Taunton.
He then showed what he could do when posting with back-to-back wins at Wincanton and Warwick. Both times, he jumped well and timed his run to the front perfectly.
Most notable was his win at Warwick when he was hit with a 9lb rise, but it did not affect the way he ran his race and although the field were a little bit closer to him that time, he ran a solid race and was always doing enough to claim the win.
However, he ran into a bit of bad luck last time out. He ran another strong race but made a mistake two from home and unseated his jockey in the process. It is arguable whether he would have been able to bring up a hat-trick of wins, but it was nonetheless a good effort.
Since then he has been switched to James Owen’s yard, who has a good record with newcomers, and he still looks to be on a manageable mark. The sharp track at Fakenham should suit him and if he jumps a bit better this time round, he should go well.

17:15 Chelmsford - Documenting @ 10/1
DOCUMENTING made his reappearance this year two weeks ago on the turf at Thirsk. He ran reasonably well, but it was obvious the veteran had not seen the track for five months as he was outpaced early on. But there were signs that there is more to come from him as he stuck to his task and made some headway in the closing stages. It was a good start to the season and showed that there may be more to come.
A return to Chelmsford will be in his favour as he has a good record at the Essex track with one win and two-second places from three runs there. It is arguable that he does his best work on the all-weather and is only 2lb above his last winning mark, which should be manageable. Now with a run under his belt he could spring a surprise here.

18:15 Chelmsford - Lady Chartwell @ 11/2
LADY CHARTWELL has looked much more at home since being up to ten furlongs. Having been tried, with limited success, over shorter trips last season, she was upped to a mile and a quarter for her first run this campaign at Chelmsford, and the results were immediately obvious.
She ran a brilliant race on her handicap debut, running a bit green at times but kept on well in the closing stages to secure a first career win.
However, she ran no sort of race on her next outing, this time on the turf at Newmarket in April. She was running in a much higher class than she had previously, but her trainer, Charlie Johnston, could offer no excuses for the poor run, and it looked like she was back to square one.
However, a return to the all-weather at Chelmsford looked to be exactly what she needed and she ran a solid race into second last time out.
Adopting similar tactics as she did when winning at the track in March she was only just beaten, fading slightly in the closing stages. But it was a solid effort and now, again back on the all-weather at Chelmsford she is sure to go well.
