Six meetings are scheduled to take place across Britain and Ireland this Saturday.

First off is Sandown, Ayr, Hereford and Gowran Park over jumps, before two all-weather cards from Wolverhampton and Chelmsford (evening meeting).

Amongst our Saturday fancies is a relatively unexposed and consistent son of Frankel representing Charlie Fellowes in the Class 2 extended 1m Lincoln Trial Handicap on the all-weather at Wolverhampton.

Saturday Racing Tips

  • 13:50 Sandown - Fire Flyer @ 6/1
  • 14:40 Wolverhampton - Shouldvebeenaring @ 11/10
  • 15:15 Wolverhampton - Smoky Mountain @ 7/1

13:50 Sandown - Fire Flyer @ 6/1

Paul Nicholls is 3-15 with his runners in the 2m4f EBF Novices' Premier Handicap Hurdle Final at Sandown since 2014, and FIRE FLYER is Harry Cobden's chosen mount from the Ditcheat handler's two entries.

The six-year-old ran second behind Gidleigh Park over this intermediate trip on soft ground at Newbury in December and that horse is one of Britain's best hopes of winning a Grade 1 novice hurdle at next week's Cheltenham Festival when contesting the Albert Bartlett on Friday.

Fire Flyer arrives on a hat-trick after winning twice since at Wincanton and Taunton and makes plenty of appeal on his handicap debut off an opening mark of 127.

14:40 Wolverhampton - Shouldvebeenaring @ 11/10

SHOULDVEBEENARING has strong form claims in the Listed 7f BetMGM Lady Wulfruna Stakes, back on the all-weather at Wolverhampton.

The selection is one of two notable runners representing Richard Hannon, who is 2-4 in this race since 2014, including through his seven-year-old Mums Tipple in 2021, who produced a notable effort at Lingfield recently, but who is strictly held on overall form by his stablemate Shouldvebeenaring.

The four-year-old is dropping into Listed company, having shown notably improved Group 1 form over six furlongs and seven furlongs towards the end of his 2023 campaign at Haydock and Longchamp.

The Havana Grey colt has won twice when fresh in the past, including on the all-weather at Southwell and has leading claims if translating his late-2023 progression to the all-weather on Saturday.

15:15 Wolverhampton - Smoky Mountain @ 7/1

SMOKY MOUNTAIN makes plenty of appeal in the Class 2 extended 1m BetMGM Lincoln Trial Handicap on the all-weather at Wolverhampton on Saturday afternoon.

The consistent selection is unexposed over this slightly longer trip and hasn't finished outside the first two in his last seven starts, including two victories over seven furlongs on this course.

The son of Frankel won going away here in January from a seven pounds lower mark, before a notable short-head second behind the opposing King's Code at Southwell later that month when stepping to a mile.

Smoky Mountain was returned to seven furlongs and switched to Newcastle for his next start and registered a respectable Racing Post Rating (RPR) of 93 in finishing second off his current rating of 85.

King's Code went on to frank the Southwell form with another victory at Kempton, but now has work to do to confirm the form with the selection on six pounds worse terms, and Smoky Mountain should appreciate this return to a turning track over a slightly longer trip.
