Saturday Racing Tips: Jeriko Du Reponet to bounce back over hurdles

Jump racing holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Saturday with four meetings taking place across the afternoon. First off is Fairyhouse before they go at Newcastle, Doncaster and Newbury.
Amongst our Saturday fancies are a pair for trainer Nicky Henderson who could be set for a fantastic day at the office as the talented Jeriko Du Reponet looks set to get back on track over hurdles.

Newbury
13:15 Newbury - Califet En Vol @ 13/8
Dan Skelton's unbeaten gelding The New Lion commands plenty of respect in the 2m4½f novices' hurdle, but he might have his work cut out to beat Nicky Henderson's CALIFET EN VOL on this occasion.
Picked up for £145,000 after finishing second in a Lingstown point last December, he shaped with plenty of encouragement on his rules debut in an Ayr bumper in May, but looked a classy type when bolting up by 15 lengths on his hurdling debut at Kempton over 2m5f.
We certainly don't know how good this boy can be just yet, but he's in top hands and chances are there's much more to come. This could turn out to be a very informative race for the season ahead.

13.54 Newbury - Hubrisko @ 16/1
In the following 2m4½f handicap hurdle, former Willie Mullins-trained inmate HUBRISKO is of interest on his handicap and British debut for trainer Harry Derham, with Jonny Burke doing the steering.
The son of Doctor Dino was last seen bolting up by 13 lengths in a Killarney beginners' chase over 2m7f in August 2023. He has a lengthy absence to overcome, but Derham is a dab hand at readying one.
A winner of a Galway maiden hurdle in his time, Hubrisko finished fourth behind the classy Hermes Allen in a Grade 2 hurdle at Cheltenham's November meeting in 2022 and, if he retains any of that ability, he could be running off a nice mark here.

14:25 Newbury - Jeriko Du Reponet @ 11/2
The next selection comes with obvious risks attached, but if JERIKO DU REPONET is back to anywhere close to his best, he will take all the beating in the 2m Gerry Fielden handicap hurdle.
Nicky Henderson's five-year-old won his sole point, but that seemingly was of no use to him as he ran a disaster of a race on his chasing debut at Sandown this month, niggled along early and pulled up a long way from home.
He is worth giving another chance, though. Jeriko Du Reponet has only had five runs under rules and he won three of his four starts over hurdles, including the Grade 2 Supreme Trial at Doncaster last season.
Things haven't worked out for him since and he has a bit to prove, but a mark of 135 could underestimate his chances if Henderson has him back to his best.
