13:35 Newcastle - City House @ 11/4

CITY HOUSE is representing James Fanshawe in this 14-runner Class 2 6f sprint handicap at Newcastle.

Fanshawe's runners have a 70% Run-To-Form figure in the past fortnight and his horses aged three have a notable 14-59 (24%) strike-rate on this course. The Night Of Thunder colt has 212 form figures on the all-weather.

He made a lasting impression when winning at Kempton in October and it was particularly encouraging that he managed to match his peak Racing Post Rating (RPR) of 95 when a close second back at Kempton 17 days before going for this much more valuable prize.

Daniel Muscutt taking over in the saddle is considered another positive. He is 35-196 (18% +£22.74) when riding on the all-weather at Newcastle and 105-719 (15%) when riding for Fanshawe.

The selection is still unexposed after seven career starts and makes considerable appeal from a 2lb higher rating of 87.

14:15 Newmarket - Tales Of The Heart @ 7/2

TALES OF THE HEART makes significant appeal in the 13-runner Listed 6f juvenile Empress Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket, representing Ralph Beckett.

Beckett trained nine winners in the past fortnight and won this race through Time Scale and Lezoo in 2020 and 2022.

The selection cost 400,000gns as a yearling, and is a particularly well-bred daughter of the Irish sire Mehmas.

She registered a competitive RPR of 82 when making an encouraging winning debut at Kempton earlier this month, and her pedigree hints strongly that she has the potential to build on that initial success now switched to turf.

William Buick is a positive riding arrangement. He won this race on board Star Of Mystery for his boss Charlie Appleby in 2023. Buick is a notable 8-45 (18%) when riding for Beckett.

Tales Of The Heart to win the 14.15 Newmarket at 7-2

15:40 Newcastle - United Approach @ 4/1

Finally, UNITED APPROACH has decent win claims in the 12-runner Class 2 7f handicap on the all-weather at Newcastle, representing James Tate.

Tate is 27-141 (19%) with his runners at this North East venue and the selection is another from his yard that should really appreciate the switch to Tapeta after winning two of his four 6f starts on turf, achieving a peak RPR of 90.

The 86-rated United Approach is a half-brother to Aim For The Stars, who won over 9.4f on the all-weather, and the step to a stiff 7f should bring about some more progression from this unexposed four-year-old.

The added bonus on this occasion is that he is a hold-up horse in a race chock full of pace and it isn't hard to envisage a strong late winning surge from the promising Fastnet Rock colt.

United Approach to win the 15.40 Newcastle at 4-1
