Six meetings are scheduled to take place across Britain and Ireland this Saturday.

First off is Newcastle, Kempton, Chepstow and Fairyhouse over jumps, before two all-weather cards from Southwell and Chelmsford (evening meeting).

Amongst our Saturday fancies is an improving and relatively unexposed chaser representing Anthony Honeyball in the feature Premier Handicap Chase on an excellent card from Kempton.

  • 14:27 Kempton - Arclight @ 5/2
  • 15:37 Kempton - Forward Plan @ 8/1

Paul Nicholls is 2-15 with five others placed in the Grade 2 2m Coral Adonis Juvenile Hurdle from Kempton since 2014. The champion trainer has entered two horses and Kalif Du Berlais is the chosen mount of Harry Cobden.

The market has been an excellent guide in the past decade and the bookies are considered to be correct in taking no chances with Nicholls' imposing French recruit.

The four-year-old was successful on heavy ground at Compiegne before joining Nicholls, and won unchallenged by over seven lengths over this course and distance on his British debut last month. He can remain unbeaten.

14:27 Kempton - Arclight @ 5/2

Five of the six runners are priced between 3/1 and 9/2 with Betfred in the Grade 2 extended 2m4f Pendil Novices' Chase from Kempton.

Arclight is representing leading Kempton trainer Nicky Henderson. She does have a bit to find on these terms with a couple of her rivals, but she remains open to further progression, and arrives 3-3 over fences, 2-2 on this course and perhaps crucially 2-2 on soft ground.

Her latest Listed mares' novice chase success at Wincanton was franked earlier in the week when the second successfully raided a similar contest at Thurles, and she makes the most appeal in receipt of upwards of 6lb all round.

15:37 Kempton - Forward Plan @ 8/1

Anthony Honeyball can boast a 75% Run-To-Form figure with recent runners from his string, including victory through Hatos over fences at Wincanton last Saturday, and Forward Plan makes plenty of each-way appeal in the feature 12-runner 3m Coral Trophy Premier Handicap Chase on Kempton's card this Saturday, with most firms offering at least four places.

Honeyball also saddles his Badger Beer hero Blackjack Magic, but the selection is only slightly bigger in the betting, and the 3lb-claiming jockey Ben Godfrey has already won four times on our horse.

All 10 winners of this race since 2014 were aged seven, eight or nine. Eight were officially rated 147 or less and seven carried 11st or less to victory.

The eight-year-old has a text-book profile for success, as an improving Irish-bed gelding who is 3-8 over regulation fences.

Admittedly, his latest chunk of progression came when just failing to get up from a 4lb lower mark in the Great Yorkshire Premier Handicap Chase at Doncaster last month on good ground, but he has won on really testing ground in the past, and he is capable of going really well from a considered sweet spot in the handicap.
