Horse Racing Tips: 11/4 chance can light up York on Saturday

Saturday can only be classed as 'action-packed' with no less than eight meetings set to take place across Britain and Ireland. York is once more centre stage, with their four-day meeting concluding as The Ebor itself headlines. The rest of Today's Horse Races come from from Goodwood, Newmarket, the Curragh, Redcar, Windsor, Killarney and Cartmel.

My horse racing tips for Saturday includes an exciting youngster for Sir Michael Stoute in the Prestige Fillies' Stakes at Goodwood.

16:30 Newmarket - Assail @ 2/1

David Simcock's ASSAIL made a striking turf debut at Ascot (1m4f, good to firm) last month, coming clear in a four-length success for Silvestre De Sousa in Class 4 company and building nicely on the promise he had shown previously on synthetic surfaces.

He did that despite racing a bit keenly early on and his finishing power can be marked up, as he left the impression this step up in trip will be to his liking.

Further improvement should be incoming and it may be needed given the presence of promising three-year-old Subsequent, but this No Nay Never gelding can provide Andrea Atzeni with a Newmarket winner before he heads back to his Hong Kong base next week.

16:45 York - Mr Lightside @ 11/4

MR LIGHTSIDE was a winner of novice events at Redcar and Nottingham in June/July for trainer Mick Appleby and he emerged with plenty of credit when stepped up in class for the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last time.

He was always prominent in that Group 3 under Rossa Ryan but was unable to handle the finishing burst of his stablemate Big Mojo as he just got pipped for second on the line.

It was an encouraging effort and represents strong form, with fourth home Celandine winning the Lowther at York this week. This represents a drop in class for the Earthlight colt and he can make the most of it.
