Horse Racing Tips: All in on Al Aasy

There are nine scheduled meetings across Britain and Ireland this Saturday.
First off are Ripon, the Curragh, Newbury, Doncaster, Newmarket and Perth in the afternoon. The three evening meetings are from Market Rasen, Tramore and Bath. Amongst our selections for our horse racing tips for Saturday is a seven-year-old gelding with really strong form claims in the opener at Newbury.
Horse Racing Tips - Saturday, August 17
13:50 Newbury - Al Aasy @ 4/5
AL AASY is representing William Haggas in the five-runner Group 3 extended 1m5f Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury.
Haggas is an impressive 14-44 (32 per-cent) in the past 14 days and big-race jockey Jim Crowley is 6-16 when riding the selection.
Al Aasy showed the benefit from his encouraging reappearance second of five over a shorter trip in Listed company on this course in July when quickening to a comfortable success in the Group 3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood 14 days ago.
The seven-year-old son of Sea The Stars is the highest-rated runner in this field with an official mark of 112. He is the only winner over this distance and the only runner to have won his latest start.
The selection is 3-5 on this course, 2-2 at this time of year and is considered one of the most likely winners on the whole day despite a 3lb penalty.
14:45 Ripon - Another Baar @ 9/1
ANOTHER BAAR has decent form claims in the 18-runner Class 4 6f Silver Trophy Handicap at Ripon, representing Adrian Keatley.
The four-year-old Mayson gelding returned to winning ways when successful over this 6f trip on good to firm ground at Doncaster 14 days ago.
A 3lb higher mark of 70 shouldn't be a hindrance to a follow-up success in this stronger race considering he won off 78 at Beverley in June last year and went on to register an RPR of 87 when third over this course and distance later that month.
A prominent racing style and a high draw in stall 18 are the other significant positives.

15:00 Newbury - Spanish Blaze @ 12/1
Finally, SPANISH BLAZE is considered the best each-way suggestion at double-figure odds on Saturday in the Class 2 7f TPT Fire Handicap at Newbury, representing Marcus Tregoning with Hayley Turner in the saddle.
Tregoning has a 6 per-cent Run-To-Form figure in the past 14 days and Turner is 40-286 (14 per-cent) when riding for Tregoning.
The gelded three-year-old son of Phoenix Of Spain has won three of his 10 starts, including a juvenile success over 6f on this course.
He won a 7f Sandown nursery off 78 in September 2023 and won a 7f three-year-old handicap off 80 in June this year.
The selection performed with credit when third from an awkward draw over a mile at Glorious Goodwood this month, and is thought capable of coping with a 2lb higher rating now that he returns to 7f on a course that suits.
This is an Extra Place Race so Betfred are paying 4 Places (1/5 Odds) instead of 3.
