Horse Racing Tips: Spectacular to turn on the Style on Monday

Five meetings are scheduled across the UK & Ireland following the weather-related abandonment at Leicester. First off is Listowel, which is swiftly followed by Hamilton, Sedgefield and Fairyhouse. Wolverhampton’s nine-race all-weather fixture completes the day’s proceedings.
My horse racing tips for Monday includes a southern raider at Hamilton who is a 20-length course and distance winner.
Horse Racing Tips - Monday, September 23
15:33 Hamilton - Spectacular Style @ 3/1
This is a thoroughly competitive affair and there are a couple of progressive three-year-olds at the head of the market. Roger Varian’s runner SPECTACULAR STYLE is also lightly raced in handicap company and the four-year-old could be the one to side with here.
The son of Frankel has one win to his name so far and it came in impressive style over course and distance in September 2023. It has to be said that the three horses he beat in that 1m4f novice aren’t up to much, but he couldn't have done much more.
He raced in second for much of the way before taking up the running with four furlongs to go and the race was quickly over, as he pulled further and further clear to win by 20 lengths.
Following that up with a fair fourth in a decent race at Newmarket on handicap debut, that effort came off 84 and his current mark is 6lb lower.
Varian’s gelding has been very disappointing in two starts so far this year, but the handicapper has responded accordingly. It’s surely only a matter of time until he returns to form and this could be the day.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
17:30 Wolverhampton - Dandy G Boy @ 9/4
The thrice-raced DANDY G BOY should be very well suited by the switch to handicaps and significant improvement is expected now.
There have been small signs of progress with each run and he kept on well enough to finish sixth at Salisbury over 6f last time out.
He looked a little outpaced that day and the step up to 7f looks likely to suit on that evidence.
His dam won over 7f and is distantly related to the smart stayer Honolulu.
It’s highly unlikely that we’ve the best of him yet and the son of Dandy Man can progress off this workable opening mark of 65.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
18:00 Wolverhampton - American Star e/w @ 18/1
Ruth Carr runs two in this race and AMERICAN STAR definitely makes the most appeal here. The five-year-old looks well treated on his best form and a return to winning ways could be on the agenda.
It was a reasonable effort when fourth in a course and distance claimer last time out and the handicapper has decided to drop him a further 2lb as a result.
That means he’s back down to a mark of 65, off which he was a very impressive winner at Chester back in July. Yet to win on the all-weather, if he can replicate his best turf form on an artificial surface he could be very dangerous in this race.
Jockey bookings suggest that this horse is the first string of the yard’s two runners and he should be making the frame at the very least.
