Horse Racing Tips: Luna to Run her rivals into the ground

Flat racing holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Monday, with six meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening.

First off is Plumpton before they go at Gowran Park, Bath, Pontefract, Southwell and finally Wolverhampton.

Amongst our Monday fancies is one for trainer Evan Williams who has a decent level of form in the context of the race and this could be her day in the sun. Below you can find my Horse Racing Tips for Monday, October 21. 

16:55 Plumpton - Iron Heart @ 10/1  

Peter & Michael Bowen have had a brilliant few months and tasted Grade 2 success recently as Flying Fortune bolted up in the Persian War at Chepstow this month.

With the yard in such fine fettle, a chance is taken on IRON HEART in this 3m1½f handicap chase. Although he can prove hit or miss, the seven-year-old is very capable on his day and should appreciate a return to calmer waters.

Twice a winner on the Flat when trained by Andrew Balding, he also won twice over hurdles for David Pipe, before having an unsuccessful spell on the Flat for Tony Newcombe.

Since joining the Bowens, Iron Heart has won two hurdle races for the yard, while he has finished second twice over larger obstacles, including when runner-up at Bangor over three miles off this mark of 100 back in May.

He ran no sort of race at Ludlow in a 0-120 earlier this month, but will find this company easier and, although he comes with risks attached, he should go well at this level.

17:30 Plumpton - Luna Run @ 5/1  

Closing out the card at Plumpton is the 3m1f mares' handicap hurdle and down near the foot of the weights LUNA RUN should be up to seeing off her rivals for trainer Evan Williams.

The Jukebox Jury mare has improved since switching to handicaps, with her best effort yet when finishing second over three miles at Ffos Las back in May off a mark of 71, which is 3lb below her current rating.

She might have found the trip on the sharp side at Newton Abbot when fourth there on her latest outing, but she should be a big player back up in trip with the addition of a tongue-tie.
