Flat fare comes from Brighton, Catterick and Lingfield, while there’s a Jumps meeting at Bangor – and our fancies include a young filly that has made a splash since going over hurdles for trainer Ollie Pears.
Monday Racing Tips
4.25 Brighton – Heer’s Sadie @ 4/1
Julia Feilden’s mare Heer’s Sadie has quickly developed an affinity for Brighton this summer and could be set for win number three at the seaside layout.
She was only a midfield finisher in her maiden visit to this venue in April but soon banished memories of that by winning in June over 7f on good-to-firm ground. She was back in July to score again, narrowly, and showed a good attitude in doing so.
Earlier this month she returned and made a good bid for the Brighton treble, before having to settle for second-best behind a well-handicapped winner on the day. That form has already been advertised as the third came out and won at this venue since over this mile trip.
The mare could have more to offer upped to the mile distance for only the second time in her career and is taken to notch another Brighton success.
5.20 Catterick – Camacho Star @ 11/1
Kevin Ryan’s Camacho Star is given the benefit of the doubt after a poor run at Ayr three weeks ago and fancied to get back on track here.
The gelding won at Redcar (1m, soft) in April and notched another success at this course (7f, good) in mid-July, making every yard of the running and holding on well late on to score.
He went up 4lb for that effort but disappointed in Scotland, folding tamely in the end over a mile on soft ground.
The three-year-old has already bounced back from such an effort to winning effect this season and, in this Betfred Extra Place Race (four places) may be some value to do so again and justify inclusion on the Most Napped table via the Betfred Betfinder in doing so.
6.35 Bangor – Max Of Stars @ 2/1
A hurdling hat-trick beckons for Max Of Stars for trainer Ollie Pears and Danny McMenamin on the evening card at Bangor-on-Dee.
The three-year-old filly improved on fourth start (handicap bow) on the Flat when fourth at Southwell (1m4f, AW) in the spring and has followed a hurdling debut second at Hexham in June with successive wins at Newton Abbot (both 2m1f, good) in June and July.
The first of those wins came in facile style as she cruised clear to win by a distance but last time she had to knuckle down and battle as her main market rival Hourless applied the pressure late on.
An opening mark of 103 could prove lenient here and she carries just 10st 2lb facing nine older rivals in this contest over two-miles and half-a-furlong. She looks promising for this level and can continue her winning spree.
