Windsor racecourse

Flat racing holds sway in Britain on Monday with four meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening. First off is Catterick before they go to the day's sole National Hunt meeting at Worcester, and that's followed by evening meetings at Yarmouth, and Windsor.

Amongst our Monday fancies is one for trainer Tony Carroll. The tip is a very consistent lady and she will try to get her rivals off the bridle a long way from home in the hands of Luke Morris.

Today's Horse Races

16.45 Catterick - Fircombe Hall @ 14/1

Closing out the card at Catterick is the 7f handicap and there should be plenty of pace on here, which should set up the race nicely for Phil Kirby's FIRCOMBE HALL under 3lb claimer Aiden Brookes.

This strong traveller has won seven times on the all-weather and without doubt is probably better on an artificial surface, but he has won on turf in the past and he has caught the eye at this track on his last two outings.

Fourth here over 6f last month, Fircombe Hall filled the same position over that same trip here last time, plugging on well to the line, while the step back up to 7f should really be in his favour now. This is a very competitive race but he should hold every chance.

18.25 Windsor - Brave Call @ 9/2

Heather Main's BRAVE CALL has been contesting some good races and the son of Churchill can take advantage now, dropping into a 1m2f maiden with Hollie Doyle booked for the job again.

Eighth on debut over 7f at Leicester last year, that's a race that has produced many good winners, and next time when third at Newmarket the winner, Hand Of God, went on to triumph in a Royal Ascot handicap in June.

Brave Call finished third over this trip at Newbury on his return and a tardy start cost him all chance when disappointing in Listed company at Newmarket when last seen in May. He's worth another chance in this sort of company.

19.25 Windsor - Wedgewood @ 7/1

She might be small in size but Tony Carroll's WEDGEWOOD is a tough little filly and if she's allowed a soft lead in the 5f handicap, she will have all of her rivals working hard to reel her back in under an action-packed Luke Morris drive.

She needs fast ground so any further drying would be a plus, as proven when winning on firm ground at Bath on her penultimate start last month, travelling strongly throughout when seeing off Glamorous Joy by a neck.

Wedgewood disappointed in a three-runner affair at Bath last time and probably just went off that little bit too hard, which set it up for Darkened Edge, who was receiving weight off her.

This is a very competitive affair but she gets weight off the entire field and she has a 6lb pull in the weights with Darkened Edge.
