Horse Racing Tips: Mademoiselle to get off the mark at Windsor

There’s a little something for everyone on Monday as we have turf, National Hunt and all-weather action going on across the UK and Ireland, with no fewer than six meetings taking place. Ayr kicks us off before Newton Abbot and Downpatrick swiftly follow, while Windsor, Killarney and Wolverhampton provide the evening entertainment.
Amongst my horse racing tips for Monday is one for trainer George Scott who should find plenty of improvement on handicap debut.
Horse Racing Tips - Monday, July 15
17:15 Windsor - Mademoiselle @ 12/1
Five of the six runners in this very competitive-looking nursery have already won a race, including Richard Hannon’s last time out scorer Siegen. That being said, maiden and bottom-weight MADEMOISELLE can do the business here.
The form of her debut effort looks absolutely rock-solid as the winner was beaten less than a length when second in a Group 2 on Friday. Several other subsequent winners have come out of the race and Mademoiselle showed some promise back in sixth.
She came very close to getting off the mark at Thirsk next time and the horse who beat her went on to place in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. It was a disappointing effort in the Hilary Needler at Beverley when last seen but she’s better than that and deserves another chance.
Handicaps could be the making of her and 76 looks like a very workable opening mark, on the evidence of her best form. The daughter of Blue Point has shown more than enough to suggest she’s capable of winning races and victory could be on the cards here.
15:28 Ayr - Batal Zabeel @ 6/1
Watch out for BATAL ZABEEL in the race of the day at Ayr as he could develop into a fair handicapper over 6f. Kevin Ryan’s three-year-old has made the frame in six of his eight starts to date and his consistency is certainly eye-catching.
Things didn’t go to plan at Musselburgh on seasonal debut over 5f, but you can put a line through that effort. He improved significantly to earn a first win of the season at Ripon upon his return to 6f last time out.
It’s easy to make the case that he had more in hand than the official margin of a neck would suggest. The son of Territories hung to the right and carried his head awkwardly in the closing stages and could easily have won by further if not for that.
The handicapper has responded with a 3lb rise which seems likely to underestimate him and he should be capable of following up here.
19:50 Windsor - Rogue Encore @ 9/4
ROGUE ENCORE has had just three starts to date and he looks dangerous on handicap debut at Windsor.
This is his first start since having wind surgery and, if that has the desired effect, we should see a much stronger finishing effort from the three-year-old.
Peter Chapple-Hyam’s colt was a cracking third to Group 1-winning sprinter Inisherin over a mile at Newcastle in March and Ribblesdale Stakes third Kalpana was only a nose ahead of him in second. That piece of form is easily the best on offer here and the return to a mile is likely to suit.
Connections must be delighted with an opening mark of 77 and it would be no surprise if he was to get off the mark here.
