Horse Racing Tips: Coconut Twist can win again at Southwell

There perhaps isn’t too much to shout about in terms of quality on offer on Monday but there are still six meetings to enjoy across Britain and Ireland on the day. Catterick kicks us off, before the afternoon action continues at Southwell, while Roscommon, Killarney, Windsor and Wolverhampton host the day’s evening entertainment.
My horse racing tips for Monday features a progressive horse for Daisy Hitchens who runs at Southwell and will be bidding to win for a third time in his last four starts. There could be more to come before the handicapper catches up.

17:15 Southwell - Coconut Twist @ 5/4
Look out for Daisy Hitchens’ COCONUT TWIST in Southwell’s finale as the seven-year-old has been progressive since the turn of the year and appears to go on any ground. The son of Shantou has won two of his last three starts and looks like one to keep on side.
Stamina is his forte and he won comfortably over an extended 3m2f at Newton Abbot last month. Going very close over the same course and distance nine days later was another solid performance, particularly on the heavy ground.
He was an even more comfortable winner on good to firm at Exeter in March. Always up with the pace that day, he took up the running at the second last and pulled clear to score by more than four lengths.
It’s noted that the handicapper is trying hard to get him in their grasp and he’s up another 5lb since finishing second last time. Life will be harder this time around but it would be no surprise if he was to go in again before the handicapper catches up.

18:33 Windsor - Havanagreattime @ 4/1
Richard Hughes’ HAVANAGREATTIME has only had six starts on turf thus far and has two wins and two placed efforts to his name. That’s a more than reasonable record and he returned to winning ways in a decent race at Newbury when last seen.
The four-year-old made virtually all of the running that day and kept on well to hold off the runner-up by half-a-length. A 3lb rise is hard to argue with on that evidence and there appears to be a significant chance of further progress from this gelding.
Windsor is an unusual track which wouldn’t be to every horse’s liking so the fact that he won his maiden over course and distance is definitely a positive omen. Another big run should be on the cards and the handicapper has given him a bit of a chance here.

19:03 Windsor - Tralee Girl @ 8/13
Michael Bell’s TRALEE GIRL makes her handicap debut here and as such, the best is almost certainly still to come. She showed plenty when finishing second on debut at Wolverhampton back in September, despite lacking the pace to challenge the winner.
It was a similar story when third over the same course and distance the following month and the winner pretty much ran away with it, after being gifted a soft lead. It’s no surprise that she was upped to 1m4f at Catterick on her first start at three and she duly obliged.
An opening handicap mark of 66 looks very workable and the best is almost certainly yet to come. Clearly she’s unexposed over middle-distance trips and this looks like a good opportunity to follow up.
