Horse Racing Tips: 2/1 shot features in our Friday fancies

It’s a mixture of Flat and jump racing in the UK and Ireland on Friday with six meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening.

Among our horse racing tips for Friday is a juvenile hurdler representing Gary and Josh Moore at Fontwell, their local track.

13:15 Gowran Park - Mr Percy @ 8/11

MR PERCY is another new recruit to hurdling who looks capable of making a winning start at his new discipline when contesting the opening 2m maiden hurdle at Gowran Park, representing Joseph O’Brien.

The four-year-old has shown steadily progressive form in his three starts on the Flat for O’Brien since sourced from the French Provinces in November 2023.

He went close off 73 in a 1m6f soft-ground Galway Festival handicap on his second Irish start in August, before improving to comfortably land a 1m6f maiden on good ground at this course in September by a comfortable seven lengths.

He achieved an RPR of 90 on that occasion and he will take some stopping if translating that level of ability to hurdles.

Daryl Jacob takes the ride which is another positive signal of intent from his in-form trainer.

14:20 Hexham - Magical Arthur e/w @ 5/2

Finally, MAGICAL ARTHUR has each-way claims once again in the opening 2m7f handicap hurdle at Hexham, representing Jennie Candlish.

Candlish is 15-87 (17 per cent) with her runners at Hexham and went 3-16 (19 per cent) in the past 14 days.

The selection showed improved form when reaching fourth over this longer trip at Worcester in July and he put in another willing effort over the trip on decent ground back there last month when reaching second.

The six-year-old son of Yeats is open to further improvement at the distance from a slightly higher mark and is thought capable of making the winning breakthrough.

15:10 Fontwell - Give It To Me Oj @ 2/1

Gary and Josh Moore are 3-17 (18 per cent) when sending runners on the short journey from their Lower Beeding base to race at Fontwell, and GIVE IT TO ME OJ makes considerable appeal in the extended 2m1f juvenile hurdle on Friday afternoon.

The three-year-old has shown a likeable level of consistency on the Flat during his six starts in that sphere since the middle of May.

He achieved a Racing Post Rating of 84 and an encouraging Topspeed figure of 78 when keeping on into third of seven over 1m3f at Kempton in August, while he ran to an RPR of 83 over 1m2f on good ground at Sandown last month.

The son of Time Test will take some stopping on his debut over hurdles, if translating that decent level of Flat ability to this new discipline.
