Horse Racing Tips: Gallant Lion to roar at Brighton

Flat racing holds sway across the UK and Ireland on Friday, with six meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening. First off is Chepstow, before they go at Carlisle, Brighton, Down Royal, Tramore and Wolverhampton.
Amongst our Friday fancies is one for trainer Ian Williams, who bids to return to the winners' enclosure for the first time since last year.

14:10 Carlisle - Krissy @ 4/9
Look out for KRISSY in the opening contest at Carlisle for in-form trainer Jim Goldie.
This daughter of Calyx has caused a couple of upsets in her racing career so far, winning at Newcastle at 40-1 and then at Musselburgh at 18/1.
She certainly cannot be overlooked and is in rare form at the moment, winning twice and placing second in her last three starts.
Her style is front-running and, despite an 11lb rise in the weights, she has the form to warrant that mark as she has beaten a handful of next-time-out winners.
In her victory in late April, she comfortably beat Bearin Up, who won her next start at Newmarket.
She is again partnered by the useful apprentice Rhys Elliot, who has saddled her to two victories and should again be too hard to peg back from the front here.

15:20 Brighton - Gallant Lion @ 9/2
Trainer Ian Williams has a fascinating runner in the form of GALLANT LION at Brighton.
This son of Roaring Lion was a course winner in 2023 on similar ground conditions of good to firm.
Since his last win at Chepstow in late May last year he's been running for the majority of races over inadequate longer distance trips; now returning to 1m4f should spark a rejuvenation in his form.
Williams' gelding comes here on an appealing mark just 1lb below his last winning mark and looks more than capable of returning to the winners' enclosure.

16:10 Carlisle - Alpine Sierra @ 6/4
Look out for ALPINE SIERRA at Carlisle for in-form trainer Jim Goldie.
This son of Distorted Humor has been in impressive form of late, winning twice on his last two starts this month.
He travelled powerfully throughout his latest victory at Musselburgh, comfortably making all and leaving his rivals behind. The form looks useful as he beat a handful of previous winners.
His partner in the saddle is Lauren Young, who is an in-form apprentice and the jockey who partnered him in his last two victories.
He carries a 4lb penalty here, but brings the best form to this contest, so that should not be enough to stop him and he should prove too tough to beat.
