Horse Racing Tips: Corolla has a Point to prove at Newcastle

A mixture of flat and jumps racing takes place across the UK and Ireland on Friday, with seven meetings starting in the morning and continuing well into the evening.
Among our horse racing tips for the afternoon and into the evening is one for trainer John Butler who's expected to bounce back when returning to an artificial surface.

18:18 Newcastle - Victory Ace @ 7/1
t may be worth forgiving VICTORY ACE for a poor run last time out at Musselburgh. The distance beaten suggests he didn't give his running and he may be suited by a return to an artificial surface here.
John Butler's son of Zoustar had previously been showing progressive form since being sent handicapping on the all-weather, making a winning debut in that sphere on his seasonal debut at Lingfield.
That race worked out well, with the second, third and fourth subsequent winners and he backed up that effort with a solid second when never ideally placed at Kempton, with the winner successful again since.
He can bounce back to form here with a slight drop in grade and trip to suit.

19:28 Newcastle - Corolla Point @ 9/4
COROLLA POINT has progressed into a smart sprinter since joining Ed Bethell, the son of Blue Point won both starts for connections last season, over 5f at Hamilton.
While beaten in third at short odds on his seasonal return, it was still a useful effort off top weight, with a duel subsequent winner in second.
He showed the benefit of that outing when again third, in a big field at York, only beaten by a pair that have since run to much higher ratings in finishing fifth and sixth in the 5f Group 1 at Royal Ascot.
He may also progress to a higher level, remaining unexposed after just seven starts and should be suited by the stiff finish here.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
