Horse Racing Tips: Walford to hit the ground running at Newbury

Jumps racing holds sway across the UK and Ireland on Friday with five meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening.
First off is Newbury, Ffos Las and Musselburgh, followed by two all-weather meetings at Dundalk and Southwell. Amongst our Thursday horse racing tips is one for trainer Robert Walford who will be hoping to defy top weight in a competitive clash at Newbury.

15:30 Newbury - Hititi @ 4/1
Robert Walford’s HITITI has enjoyed a positive season this year and has been rather unfortunate not to come away with a win.
His most recent run in a Pertemps qualifier at Exeter saw him sandwiched between Jeriko Du Reponet and Catch Him Derry, who went on to finish 2nd and 3rd in the Pertemps final at the Cheltenham Festival last week.
He carried top-weight burden that day and will have to do so again here, but this seems to be an easier test to what he faced back at the start of February.
However, this will be far from a simple race, but he is a gritty horse who stays on well and will have every shot at coming out on top.
This is an Extra Place Race, meaning that Betfred will pay 3 Places (1/5 Odds) rather than 2.

16:55 Southwell - Come On John @ 11/8
COME ON JOHN will be running his 15th race since joining James Owen’s yard in October and has a great opportunity to keep his recent good form going.
Since joining Owen from Michael Attwater, Come On John finds himself rated 9lb higher, but shows no signs of stopping. The application of a visor could be one reason for the six-year-old's success as Owen opts to continue with the head gear.
His most recent outing saw him finish a close third at Wolverhampton six days ago and as a result has stayed off the same mark coming into this race.
It is important to note that he arrives at the top of the ratings in the race instead of being the lowest rated horse in the race last time out, giving him a great opportunity to return to winning ways.

17:10 Newbury - Enrilo @ 13/8
It wasn’t meant to be for Olive and Paul Nicholls at the Cheltenham Festival with Shearer in the Hunters’ Chase, however the two combine once more and hold a good hand with ENRILO.
While only five runners set to lock horns it still remains a competitive renewal and the others may find it difficult to get the better of Nicholl’s course and distance winner.
The 11-year-old made his first run in this company last time out and travelled well finishing second to Frere D’armes, who is enjoying a good season in this sphere.
It was also Enrilo’s first run off of a 117-day break and there is no doubt he will come on all the better after that run.
