13:50 Goodwood - Temporize @ 11/2
Temporize bids to repeat last year's win in the Goodwood handicap, a staying race over the extended 2m4f with a flip start.
There’s a decent chance that Temporize will get an uncontested lead despite the sizeable field as there are no other regular front runners in the line-up. Up with the pace is often where you want to be over this course and distance, so he has that in his favour.
He arrives on the back of a career-best performance, proving that he acts on the quick ground he’s likely to face here and jumps trainers have a fantastic record in this contest.,
This is an Extra Place Race so Betfred will be paying 5 Places instead of 4 at 1/5 Odds.
Free Bet if 2nd - Money back as a Free Bet if your horse finishes 2nd in this race.
15:35 Goodwood - Live In The Dream @ 10/1
Live In The Dream no longer has to carry a penalty for last year’s Group 1 success in the Nunthorpe at York and there’s a fair chance that this track could suit him even better than the Knavesmire.
The downhill five furlong course at Goodwood really plays into the hands of speedsters and there’s no doubt that this five-year-old gelding is all about pace, as he showed when blazing away at York last year.
Plenty has gone wrong for him this time around and he shaped like he needed the run when only narrowly denied on his reappearance in the Temple Stakes before attempting to make all the running on a day when those ridden more patiently seemed to be at an advantage on his second start of the campaign.
It’s also worth putting a line through his subsequent effort at Sandown when he was drawn on an unfavoured part of the track and the switch of tactics from connections didn’t see him to best effect that day.
His long-established partner in crime Sean Kirrane, on board for the Nunthorpe win, is in action at Musselburgh today, but Jason Hart is an able deputy who is at his best on front runners so it could work out for connections.
This is an Extra Place Race so Betfred will be paying 4 Places instead of 3 at 1/5 Odds.
18:35 Galway - Derry Lad @ 7/1
Over at Galway, Derry Lad may take some beating in the Guinness Handicap.
He was an eyecatcher at Epsom last time when meeting a load of trouble in running and while he’s been in good form of late, he’s also been shaping like he would relish a step back up in trip.
He gets that here as well as his favoured quick ground and he looks like a major player with Wesley Joyce, a talented young rider, taking off 5lb.
This is an Extra Place Race so Betfred will be paying 5 Places instead of 4 at 1/5 Odds.
Free Bet if 2nd - Money back as a Free Bet if your horse finishes 2nd in this race.
