Friday Racing Tips: Dickieburd to whistle along to winner’s circle

Flat racing holds sway in Britain and Ireland on Friday, with seven meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening. First off is Epsom before they go at Wolverhampton, Newbury, Cork, Thirsk, Tramore and Newmarket.
Amongst our Friday fancies is one for trainer Craig Lidster who has knocked the door down on several occasions this year and will appreciate the ease in grade today.
Horse Racing Tips Friday
2.50 Epsom - Dickieburd @ 10/3
The first bet of the day comes in the 6f handicap on the Downs and, although he has been on a frustrating losing streak, DICKIEBURD can gain a deserved victory in the hands of 5lb claimer William Pyle.
Trained by Craig Lidster and sporting the familiar Nick Bradley silks, the son of Cracksman's last success was at Newcastle over this trip back in November, but some big efforts in defeat has meant he hasn't fallen down the weights too much at all subsequently.
As a matter of fact, Dickieburd is now 1lb higher on turf still, but a repeat of his effort at Chester in July when just nailed on the line would be enough to win this and that was a stronger race than this too.
He was well backed at Chester last time but didn't produce his best. Nonetheless, he's worth another chance and he should be well suited to the quirks of this track.
3.25 Epsom - Star Of Epsom @ 16/1
Hopefully our next tip will live up to his name as STAR OF EPSOM tries to build on an eye-catching third at Lingfield over 1m4f last time. Pat Phelan's mare gets the narrow vote in the 1m2f handicap.
All four of her career victories have come over this trip, but she ran well for a long way over further when last seen and she can run from the same mark back on turf.
It might be a concern that all four of her wins have come on an artificial surface and her form on grass is far from inspiring, but if she can take a step forward from her last run, she must enter calculations in this company.
3.45 Newbury - Englemere @ 11/1
Moving on to the 5f Listed St Hugh's Stakes at Newbury and in an open looking contest a chance is taken on George Boughey's runner ENGLEMERE under Billy Loughnane.
She bumped into the classy Betty Clover (second in Group 3 company last time) when second at Bath on debut in April before scoring in a maiden and novice at Catterick and Carlisle in May.
Admittedly nowhere good enough in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot, she stayed on well to finish second to the re-opposing Adrestia at Sandown last month on handicap debut.
Englemere has a 4lb pull in the weights with that rival now and that should be enough to put her right in the mix.
