Great yarmouth racecourse

Tuesday is another busy day of racing action, with five cards across the UK including a meeting on the Flat at Great Yarmouth. There are further Flat cards at Epsom and Thirsk alongside jumps meetings at Kelso and Hereford.

They race at the East Norfolk track from 13:53-17:15, with conditions forecast to be 'good-good to firm in places'. Below are my three best bets on the card at Great Yarmouth, including Rebel Star for trainer Robert Cowell after a couple of close calls on the all-weather.

Today's Horse Races

13:53 Great Yarmouth – Me Tarzan @ 11/8

The opening mile handicap could be just the right opportunity for ME TARZAN to get on the scoresheet.
James Fanshawe's gelded son of Bungle Inthejungle caught the eye on seasonal return at Kempton this month when staying on into third spot behind a winner in Take The Boat that was obliging for the third time in her last four starts.

Me Tarzan was having his first run since October and should strip fitter for that outing. It was his third start in a handicap and he's been gradually improving with each run.

This mark of 52 looks exploitable and the manner in which he finished his race off at Kempton 13 days ago offers plenty of hope that he will relish the extra furlong.
Lightly-raced Amber Honey ranks as a danger after the Expert Eye filly ran well on her handicap debut at Redcar just a couple of days prior to that pleasing showing from Me Tarzan.

13:53 Yarmouth - Winner Me Tarzan

16:08 Great Yarmouth – Rebel Star @ 5/4

Robert Cowell's filly REBEL STAR has been knocking at the door on the all-weather of late and the four-year-old can make her breakthrough on this switch to the grass.
The Intrinsic filly has made the frame in three of six starts on the all-weather since being well beaten in a soft-ground Bath novice on debut back in October.

She was collared in a head-bobber at Lingfield by Midnightattheoasis late last month, with Phil McEntee's thriving scorer completing a hat-trick there and supplementing with two more wins over track and trip at Lingfield since.

It was a similar tale for Rebel Star at Chelmsford since, as she got her pocket picked by the fast-finishing Buraback. She has a 2lb higher mark to defy now but it looks a matter of time before her consistency is rewarded.

16:08 Yarmouth - Winner Rebel Star

17:15 Great Yarmouth – Berry Clever @ 9/2

Gincident was beaten fair and square at Wolverhampton on Saturday evening and can be opposed turned out for a third run of the month for new trainer James Owen.

Corundum has his best days ahead of him but lacks a recent run ahead of this handicap bow and so the eye is drawn to BERRY CLEVER.
The Expert Eye gelding was thrice-placed in four turf runs last season, including over C&D (good to firm) in this month off a mark of 63 when denied a head.

He bagged a couple of 7f Kempton handicaps in October and returns here after a pipe-opener when third at the Sunbury-on-Thames track a fortnight ago.
That fitness edge could be crucial and he's taken to register a first turf win at a track on which he has good experience.

17:15 Yarmouth - Winner Berry Clever
