Seven National Hunt races from Gowran Park on Friday, Sept 29th; 14.05 – 17.35.

Some of the sport’s biggest names are on show – Elliott, Blackmore, and a certain WP Mullins, who runs a couple of absolute corkers in the closing Listed Mares flat race. An intriguing afternoon in County Kilkenny is undoubtedly on the cards, with plenty of declared runners, too.

15.15 – Chemdawg @ 9/4

Philip Enright takes the ride for Oliver McKiernan, and Chemdawg ran very well at Bellewstown last time out under Friday’s rider.

The horse was patiently ridden in rear and came with a late run, just not quite getting to the winner to the tune of just over 2l. It’s fair to say that the 4-yr-old filly hasn’t uprooted any trees yet either on the flat or since she was sent over timber, but that last run featured a career-best Racing Post rating.

She’s seemingly coming to the boil nicely and won’t be anything like the 50/1 recorded last time. Philip knows the filly well and it could be time to strike.

17.00 – Como Park @ 2/1

Irish NH royalty now – Henry De Bromhead and jockey Rachael Blackmore. This 4-yr-old gelded son of Camelot was very respectable on the flat at staying trips for Joseph O’Brien, and though the jumping penny has yet to fully drop he’s put three very reasonable efforts together this term.

That little touch of class from the flat should be able to be translated into a win sooner rather than later, and this doesn’t look too testing. The duo of HDB and Rachael B are absolutely top-drawer, and though this is very much a lesser stable light his chance for me is undeniable.
