It's been a fruitful few days at Galway for Betfred Insights followers, as I've produced three winners - at 9/1, 13/2 and 3/1 - and a place (9/1) from six selections.

More of the same on Friday? Let's hope so. Here's my Galway Summer Festival Day 5 tips...

Galway Summer Festival Day 5 Tips

  • 18:00 - Statuario @ 5/1
  • 19:10 - Sacred Oath @ 15/8

18:00 - Statuario @ 5/1

British raiders have enjoyed plenty of success in Ireland of late, including at this very meeting courtesy of Adrian Keatley's Gale Mahler - who I suggested at 13/2 - in the Listed novice hurdle on Tuesday.

I'm predicting more joy for the away team on Friday as Peter & Michael Bowen's STATUARIO is taken to land this handicap chase over an extended 2m6f.

The nine-year-old is a true summer horse with a liking for quick ground and he's in the form of his life at present, winning back-to-back handicaps at Perth in May and June before placing in the G3 Summer Plate at Market Rasen a couple of weeks ago.

Despite competing in the latter contest off a mark of 135, he runs here off two pounds lower which looks generous to my eye - and I think this trip is absolutely perfect for him.

His trainers are in good form too and Sean Bowen comes over for the ride, so it's fair to say Statuario has a lot going for him here.

Today's Horse Races

19:10 - Sacred Oath @ 15/8

I've barely tackled the flat races at Galway this week, but I will be doing so on Friday as I think Dermot Weld's SACRED OATH is good value for this fillies' maiden over 1m4f.

Current market leader Andromeda sets the standard, but ultimately she's been runner-up on all four of her runs to date and for that reason alone she's untrustworthy.

I have a lot more faith in Weld's three-year-old daughter of Lope De Vega who showed plenty of ability on her debut at the Curragh in late June, coming from way out the back to finish a staying-on third of 18.

There should be a good bit of improvement to follow and this looks a fairly modest event on paper, so she's a confident selection.
