Doncaster tips: Snowy Clouds can eclipse rivals

There's a six-race card from Doncaster to look forward to on Wednesday afternoon with four Go North Series qualifiers highlighting the Town Moor action.
Snowy Clouds heads to the handicap chase at 14:50 and Nicky Richards' runner could eclipse his rivals. Meanwhile, a potentially improving sort could surprise for Neil Mulholland, while a drop in the weights could work for Scots Poet in the penultimate contest.
Doncaster Tips - Wednesday, February 19
14:50 - Snowy Clouds @ 4/1
SNOWY CLOUDS was pulled up off a 603-day break at this venue last time out, but Nicky Richards' charge performed far better than the form figure reads in that curtailed December spin.
The nine-year-old travelled well and jumped nicely over the same 2m½f before getting tired and taking a bump three out.
Snowy Clouds was looked after from that point and a 67-break feels about right ahead of a return to action.
Richards' runner looked a seriously progressive horse when bolting up at Catterick and Market Rasen in quick succession in early 2023.
A fall at Ayr prompted his hiatus but well-rested and raring to go, Snowy Clouds looks a bet to resume his previous progress at Doncaster.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
15:20 - Ca Plane Pour Moi @ 6/1
CA PLANE POUR MOI had shown little in six starts for Neil Mulholland, but the former Irish-trained runner looked capable of more when finishing fifth of 14 runners at Uttoxeter last time out.
The six-year-old was punted from 14-1 to 3-1 on the show at the Midlands track, suggesting connections thought the seven-year-old had more to offer off a mark of 88, and Mulholland's charge was dropped a further three pounds following that run.
Clearly, the six-year-old was unable to land the gamble, but the run was a step in the right direction and the tongue tie and cheekpieces are kept in place for this three-mile handicap hurdle on Town Moor.
It will be interesting to see if the money comes again for the gelding, but either way, the six-year-old looks worth a punt.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
16:33 Scots Poet @ 12/1
SCOTS POET disappointed at Musselburgh last time out, but the nine-year-old had previously looked a well-handicapped horse when finishing third at the Scottish track.
Ewan Whillans' runner was dropped another two pounds following his latest run and a more sensible race plan might be what is required from retained jockey Craig Nichol.
The nine-year-old made a sweeping mid-race move from a wide position at Musselburgh and that won't have helped Scots Poet finish his race strongly.
Trip and ground look fine in the handicap hurdle at 16:33 and Scots Poet looks on a dangerous mark of 11-8.
