On Thursday, I'm focused on the flat action from Doncaster. They race at the South Yorkshire venue from 14:35 to 18:00, with conditions forecast to be good to soft.

Among my Doncaster tips is Swift Tuttle for the Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero team after a pleasing last-time-out effort.

Doncaster Tips - Thursday, July 11

  • 15:10 – Swift Tuttle @ 8/1
  • 16:55 – Get The Music On e/w @ 18/1
  • 17:30 – Chatty @ 13/8

15:10 – Swift Tuttle @ 8/1

The afternoon opens at Doncaster with two divisions of the Go Racing In Yorkshire Amateur Jockeys' Handicap over the St Leger trip of an extended 1m6f and SWIFT TUTTLE is worth paying some attention for the Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero yard.

The five-year-old was allotted a mark in the mid-70s back in 2022 and duly ran fourth over 1m2f here on heavy ground in what proved his final outing for Brian Meehan.

He's been a mixed bag since but did manage to win over hurdles at Bangor in September last year.

His first two runs back from a break at Wolverhampton and Haydock were quiet, but he showed more under Poppy Wynne at Catterick (1m4f, good to soft) in first-time cheekpieces last month, finishing fourth.

He's been eased a further 2lb now, while his rider can claim her full 7lb allowance this time. From this lowly rating of 52 he could pick off a race of this ilk, with the longer trip holding no fears.

Today's Horse Races

16:55 – Get The Music On e/w @ 18/1

Dropping back in trip for the Alan Wood Plumbing And Heating Handicap over 7f could be just the tonic for GET THE MUSIC ON.

The Clive Cox-trained daughter of Havana Grey had figures of 221 last season as a juvenile at this distance, signing off with a novice success on Kempton's Polytrack in November.

She reappeared at Newbury (7f, good to soft) in April at the Greenham meeting and had plenty on her plate rising into Class 2 company on her first appearance in 170 days. She forced the pace but weakened out of contention, leaving the impression she'd come on for the run.

All three starts since have come over a mile, including a near-miss at Kempton in June either side of lesser showings on turf at Sandown and Goodwood.

Richard Kingscote rides for the first time now and his filly may have unfinished business back at this trip.

This is a Super Extra Place Race, with Betfred paying four places instead of three at 1/5 the odds for all each-way bets.

17:30 – Chatty @ 13/8

Winners have been scarce for the Richard Hannon team lately, and after passing up some good chances recently blinkers are now tried on Delicacy. The Saxon Warrior filly is becoming frustrating and a better option may be CHATTY for Tim Easterby.

He caught the eye over 7f at Redcar and Wetherby following an absence and came closest to breaking his duck back at the former venue last month when stepped up to a mile as 50/1 winner Jumeira Vision denied him in second spot.

The winner showed that was no fluke by going in again since at Musselburgh and Chatty will surely soon get his reward if he continues asking the right questions.
