Doncaster St Leger Festival Day 4 Tips: 11/2 and 8/1 shots for Sunday

The Betfred St Leger Festival concludes on Sunday following a seven-race card running from 14:05-17:25.

So for the final time this week, here's my Doncaster St Leger Festival Day 4 tips.

14:40 - Spanish Blaze @ 8/1

Marcus Tregoning's three-year-old SPANISH BLAZE is due a win.

I tipped the Phoenix Of Spain gelding at Sandown a couple weeks ago and he blew his chance immediately, losing several lengths out the gates which meant he was forced to race at the rear of his nine rivals. He made eye-catching headway late on, but it was a case of too little, too late.

The handicapper has dropped him a pound, to 86, which seems generous, and P J McDonald takes over in the saddle, which is no negative either.

With a bit more luck in running, I expect him to be bang there again and at 8/1 it's well worth chancing that this will be his day.

This is a Super Extra Place Race, with four on offer instead of three at 1/5 the odds for all each-way bets.

17:25 - Aramram @ 11/2

Finally, the concluding apprentice handicap over six furlongs can go to Richard Hannon's ARAMRAM under Joe Leavy.

The young rider is starting to make a name for himself and I'm of the opinion that he's beginning to stand out among his counterparts.

His strike rate over the past two weeks is a very healthy 22% courtesy of eight winners from 36 rides, while his figures for the calendar year are 44 from 307 (14%).

I like the angle of such standouts in the saddle in these sorts of races, and the Blue Point colt he'll be steering on Sunday has decent credentials too.

He's dropped from a mark of 90 back in June - not the best piece of handicapping in my humble opinion - to 83 which is a lot more manageable in what looks an easier race.
