Shadow Of Light @ 7/4
A big field go to post for the 2025 running of the Commonwealth Cup but one runner stands clear on ratings, with SHADOW OF LIGHT worth supporting to record a third Group 1 victory.
The son of Lope De Vega kicked off his three-year-old campaign with an excellent third-placed finish in the 2000 Guineas on his first attempt at a mile. He pulled clear of the remainder and was only beaten by a length by stablemate Ruling Court.
Field of Gold has given that form a strong look, bolting up in the Irish 2000 Guineas and St James Palace Stakes earlier this week.
Shadow Of Light showed an electric turn of foot to hit the front that day, only to be outstayed and could be well suited by the drop back to this stiff 6f.
His last attempt over this distance resulted in an impressive victory in the Grade 1 Middle Park as a juvenile and his pedigree also suggests he may be best suited to sprint trips, being closely related to a dual Group 1 winner over 6f in Earthlight.

Ides Of March @ 10/1
Jonequil is an interesting runner, with a similar profile to the selection, he also placed in a classic over a mile this year, finishing second in the French 2000 Guineas. He has plenty of pace and should enjoy the drop in trip but there may be better further down the board.
Despite being passed over in favour of Whistlejacket by Ryan Moore, IDES OF MARCH is given a positive mention.
There hasn't been much between the two Ballydoyle inmates, with Whistlejacket proving too strong on seasonal debut. However, that victory came on soft ground and the expected faster conditions could see Ides of March turn the tables.
A strong pace to aim at and quick conditions could see a career best from the son of Wotton Basset, he should finish well over the stiff 6f under recent Derby winning rider Wayne Lordan and is worth supporting at each-way odds.
