Coko Beach Grand National Odds 2024: Can Elliott trained horse place?

Not many horses get to try their luck at winning the Aintree Grand National once, let alone twice, but this will be Coko Beach’s third attempt at the most famous horse race in the United Kingdom and he comes in on the back of an impressive win over at Punchestown in February.

Coko Beach heads into his third run at the Grand National undoubtedly in the best form of his career, which is why he’s been allocated one of the top weights in the field of 34. This grey from the stable of Gordon Elliott has placed in all four of his races so far this season, having ended his previous campaign by being pulled up in this very race a year ago.

All four of his runs this time around have been on soft or heavy ground, which is a good indicator that he can take to such conditions. The weather up in the north-west has been pretty miserable all winter long and spring is not exactly expected to improve anytime soon, so that is very much worth noting.

One of those races was here at Aintree over the Grand National course back in December when Coko Beach finished runner-up to Chambard in the Becher Handicap Chase. Despite not crossing the winning post first, it was still a good performance that day, showing once again that the fences around Aintree don’t scare him, having already completed the Grand National back in 2022.

That win at Punchestown in February briefly saw Coko Beach installed as the Ante Post favourite for the Cross-Country at Cheltenham but it was another tilt at the Grand National fences that was the plan and this is certainly his best shot of his three tilts. Certainly an each-way contender, with Betfred paying out seven places this year.
