Chepstow races scaled

One of six meetings across the UK & Ireland on Wednesday comes from Chepstow, with the Welsh track hosting seven races between 14:22 and 17:35.

I've studied the contests and picked out three Chepstow tips, with David Evans' Bust A Moon expected to maintain his recent strong form.

Chepstow Tips - Wednesday, May 21

  • 14:52 - Phaedra @ 9/4
  • 15:55 - Rosenpur @ 6/4
  • 16:25 - Bust A Moon @ 2/1

14:52 - Phaedra @ 9/4

With only two runners set to contest the opener at 14:22, our attention turns to the second race of the day at 14:52.

Nine runners are set to go to post over 1m4f and Richard Hannon's PHAEDRA is expected to go close for connections.

Hannon’s yard is in decent form, with 12 of his last 50 runners over the last 14 days landing the spoils at the time of writing, and Phaedra could help improve that statistic.

The three-year-old has yet to win since making her debut in July 2024, but there have been signs of improvement.

Her best result in 2024 was a fifth-placed effort at Southwell and after ending up fifth again at Bath next time out, she improved at Nottingham earlier this month when taking third.

Hannon has stepped her up in trip for this run, and that should bring the best out of her.

14:52 Chepstow - Winner Phaedra

15:55 - Rosenpur @ 6/4

Jennie Candlish's ROSENPUR heads to Chepstow in fine form and looks primed to strike again this week.

Rosenpur has been seen 11 times since the turn of the year, with 10 of those outings coming on the All Weather.

Candlish switched things up earlier this month by sending her mount to Chester and Rosenpur was just edged out by Roman Dragon over five furlongs.

Rosenpur's form is the best in this race and this looks a winnable contest.

15:55 Chepstow - Winner Rosenpur

16:25 - Bust A Moon @ 2/1

BUST A MOON is set to run for the third time this month and Evans' runner was a winner last time out at Beverley.

That success was the first win of Bust A Moon's career, and Evans is clearly trying to strike while the iron is hot.

While his charge will need to handle a penalty, Bust A Moon will run just eight days after his maiden success and that suggests connections are expecting to return to the winners' enclosure.
