Friday promises to be a busy day for racing fans across the UK and Ireland, with no fewer than eight meetings planned.
Our focus here is on Chepstow’s eight-race card, which is due to start at 5:09. The going is expected to be soft-good to soft in places, barring any late weather changes, and the final contest should get underway at 8:55.
5.40 Acer @ 13/8
Clive Cox’s ACER has only raced on two occasions, but the early signs have been positive ahead of a maiden stakes contest over six furlongs at Chepstow on Friday.
The daughter of Harry Angel finished third on debut at Windsor in June before repeating that result earlier this month.
She was beaten by Make It Easy and Band Of Joy on that occasion, who have both gone to win elsewhere this month, so the form looks solid. Acer was a little green last time out, but she should now have the experience and can notch her first win at the third attempt.
6.15 Starry Eyes @ 9/4
STARRY EYES has not won since September 2021, a run of 25 outings, but she can get back in the winners’ enclosure this week.
The seven-year-old has at least been consistent this summer, finishing fifth at Brighton and Lingfield and fourth at Wolverhampton and Windsor.
Although she gave the rider a tough night’s work last time out, Starry Eyes will drop into classified company now, and the drop in class should suit her perfectly, and she can get the job done for connections.
6.50 Straits Of Moyle @ 13/8
STRAITS OF MOYLE is another runner that is enduring a long losing streak, but Robert Cowell’s charge can give connections something to smile about on Friday evening.
The four-year-old has only been with Cowell’s stable a short while, and he finished third on his debut for the yard at Nottingham this month.
The gelding will run off the same mark at Chepstow, and it appears that connections have tried to strike while they can.
Straights Of Moyle will have some competition from Therehegoes and Kyber Crystal, but Cowell looks like he has found how to get the best out of his charge already.
