Chelmsford Tips: A drop in class can work wonders for Windsor Pass

A chilly night is forecast on Wednesday, but there are nine races under the lights at Chelmsford to warm the pockets of punters.
Bintjan lines up in the seven-furlong handicap at 17:10 and Henry Hardwicke believes Kevin Philippart De Foy’s charge can follow up last month’s impressive Wolverhampton success.

17:10 - Bintjan @ 10/3
A mark of 71 was no barrier to Bintjan, who bolted up at Wolverhampton last month, and the three-year-old can score off a revised rating of 79 in the seven-furlong handicap at 17:10.
The Philippart De Foy-trained filly travelled strongly and went clear at the Dunstall Park venue 32 days ago, and an eight-pound rise wouldn’t have been enough to stop the three-year-old on that occasion.
Bintjan was scoring for the first time on the all-weather at Wolverhampton, but the manner of that success suggested there would be plenty more victories to come, and Philippart De Foy’s hope is still fairly lightly raced on only his tenth career start.
Betfred offer three places on each-way bets on the 17:10, but a win only wager looks the way to play a race the filly should dominate.

17:45 - Windsor Pass @ 7/2
Windsor Pass takes a drop into 0-55 company in the seven-furlong handicap at 17:40 and that should help John Butler’s charge get her head in front.
The seven-year-old has form figures of 3,5,3,3,5,1,2 at Chelmsford and all of those good and consistent efforts have come in a higher grade than Wednesday’s contest.
Windsor Pass was sent off a 2/1 chance for a 0-65 contest at Ffos Las in the summer and the seven-year-old failed to run down the pace and finished a staying on second under Luke Morris.
The run came off a mark of 56, which suggested that Windsor Pass was capable of scoring off her rating.
The strong-travelling mare looks an excellent bet to take advantage of a drop in grade, and she can score for the Butler team.

18:15 - Mister Sandman @ 2/1
Mister Sandman was punted from 4/1 to 5/2 on the show at Bath last time out and Gary & Josh Moore’s charge was a huge eye-catcher.
The three-year-old fluffed the start under Tom Queally, but the gelding stayed on well to finish second and that effort indicated that a win wasn’t far away.
The run was the first for the Moore stable, and better again can be expected, returning to the same grade and off a similar mark at Chelmsford.
