Chelmsford’s six-race card is one of five meetings across the UK and Ireland on Tuesday 25 July.

The opening race is due to start at 6:20, and viewers can watch all six contests until 8:50. Betfred’s “Extra Place” promotion is available in three races, with customers able to take advantage in the opening event plus contests at 7:20 and 7:50.

Chelmsford City Tips

  • 6.20 – Bungle Bay @ 5/2
  • 7.20 – Nuthatch @ 11/4
  • 8.20 – Alexandretta @ 11/8

6.20 – Bungle Bay @ 5/2

Connections of Bungle Bay are trying to strike while the iron is hot after an impressive few weeks with the four-year-old. James Evans and his team led Bungle Bay to a fourth-placed finish at Wolverhampton in May, and he has continued to build on that.

In June, Bungle Bay finished third and second at Windsor and Leicester, while he returned to the winners’ enclosure at Wolverhampton earlier this month. He beat a field of 13 at 17/2, and the handicapper has only handed him a 3lb penalty for that run.

7.20 – Nuthatch @ 11/4

After competing at Goodwood last time out, Nuthatch takes a step back on Tuesday, competing at Chelmsford for the second time in the three-year-old’s career.

Jamie Osborne’s charge won at 25/1 on that occasion in February and has since won at Southwell in April.

Nuthatch has finished in the top three on four occasions from seven races, and the booking of Saffie Osborne should be crucial as connections go in search of another win on the Polytrack.

8.20 – Alexandretta @ 11/8

Unlike our previous two tips, Alexandretta has yet to win, but Sir Mark Prescott’s runner is the most consistent of the lot. The daughter of Sea The Moon has carried on where she left last season, and the signs look good for Prescott’s charge.

Alexandretta finished second on debut in September, then third at Kempton, before connections decided to hand her a 306-day break. She returned earlier this month at Salisbury, finishing second to Mother Mary as the 8/11 favourite.

Prescott has decided to step his charge up in trip to one mile, and connections will hope that will make all the difference as Alexandretta searches for her first win.
