Brighton Tips: Course specialist can win again

There’s a six-race card by the sea on the south coast at Brighton on Wednesday afternoon and there’s a trio of tasty wagers to be had.

The first race gets underway at 14:25 and the action concludes at 16:55. Read on for my Brighton tips for Wednesday.

15:55 Brighton - Sandy Paradise e/w @ 12/1

Richard Hughes has his team in rude health and Sandy Paradise has strong each-way claims in the 15:55 for the Lambourn trainer.

The five-year-old is yet to win on turf, but the gelding ran with credit at Brighton last month and this looks a winnable race.

Ethan Jones, who has won on the horse before, takes over from Findley Marsh and Jones’ five-pound claim could be a big help this afternoon.

16:55 Brighton - Otago @ 11/2

Three-time Brighton winner Otago is back on the south coast in the seven-furlong handicap at 16:55 and it could be a fourth course win for the seven-year-old.

Jim Boyle’s charge stayed on well and ran a cracker to finish second in a class 5 handicap at Epsom last time out and this drop to a class 6 contest should allow Otago to get his head in front.

Otago finished second, beaten only a short head, at this course in May and that effort came off a mark of 62. Boyle looks to have his runner well-handicapped on a rating of 59 this afternoon and Otago looks primed for another south coast success.
