Thursday is another busy day on the racing front, with seven meetings down for decision across the UK and Ireland.

My focus is on the card at Beverley, where they race from 13:45-17:25. Read on for my Beverley tips.

Beverley Tips - Thursday, April 24

  • 13:45 - Kanishka @ 5/2
  • 14:15 - Brummell @ 11/2
  • 16:55 - Freddy Robinson @ 11/4

13:45 - Kanishka @ 5/2

A novice contest over the minimum trip here in which in-form trainer Brian Ellison can get on the scoresheet with KANISHKA.

The Coulsty colt debuted last month at Doncaster during their Lincoln meeting and ran an encouraging race despite showing signs of greenness.

The third home, Exclamation, has run well in a Newmarket novice since and that Town Moor race should be solid form in time.

He's one of just three runners with experience and just about sets the standard on his Doncaster effort. There should be further improvement to come and the stable are in good form, while he drops from Class 2 into Class 5 company now and looks to hold outstanding claims.

13:45 Beverley - Winner Kanishka

14:15 - Brummell @ 11/2

BRUMMELL can run a big race on seasonal return in the Happy Birthday Andrew Hill Handicap over the minimum trip for trainer Julie Camacho.

The Dandy Man gelding enjoyed a positive three-year-old season last time. He went close on his comeback on the Tapeta at Newcastle over 6f and then scored over course and distance here (good to soft) in early May.

He plateaued for a couple of runs afterwards but had a good autumn, running well in defeat at Newmarket (5f, soft) and Yarmouth (5f, soft) before a decisive success back on the all-weather at Newcastle in November.

He was turned out quickly again at Gosforth Park under a penalty and didn't match that effort but he's entitled to progress against a 4YO now and his comeback effort last season suggests he can go well first time out over a track and trip where he was a convincing winner on his only previous start.

This is an Extra Place Race, with Betfred paying 4 places (1/5 odds) instead of 3. T&Cs Apply.

14:15 Beverley - Winner Brummell

16:55 - Freddy Robinson @ 11/4

Four-year-olds Kaaress and Mister Daydream were fourth and fifth at Redcar earlier this month on their seasonal comebacks and need consideration with that outing behind them for the Ollie Pears and Charlie Johnston teams.

However, Brian Ellison runs FREDDY ROBINSON here back down in trip after a solid effort at this venue over 1m4f (good) eight days ago.

That was his second good effort since returned to the Flat, after a third place finish at Doncaster over this trip last month.

His 1-17 strike-rate in Flat turf races isn't overly appealing but that win did come here over track and trip. He's on a workable mark of 62 and should uphold course form with Sisterandbrother now. He could round off a good afternoon for Ellison and Ben Robinson alliance.

16:55 Beverley - Winner Freddy Robinson
