It's almost time for the Betfred Oaks 2024, which sees the best three-year-old fillies do battle at the picturesque Epsom racecourse.

As if often the case, Aidan O'Brien dominates the antepost betting at time of publication - and we have sat down with the Ballydoyle boss to discuss his chances of winning the race for an 11th time.

Aidan O'Brien says he is "very happy" with 2/1 Betfred Oaks favourite Ylang Ylang ahead of another tilt at Classic glory.

The Frankel filly was a staying-on fifth, just a length behind the winner, in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket earlier this month and O'Brien is positive about her chances at Epsom in just over two weeks time.

He said: "We thought going to the Guineas that she was an Oaks filly. That's the way she was working, and she ran that way in the Guineas.

"Ryan was very happy with her. He let her find her feet and felt she was coming home very well, so it will be very interesting."

She's to be joined on the boat by stablemate Rubies And Red, currently 8/1 at Betfred, who was an eye-catching second in the Oaks Trial at Lingfield last weekend.

"She went to Lingfield and Ryan said she was very green," said O'Brien. "He nursed her, and because he was nursing and teacher her she got back a long way, but he felt when she straightened up she really came home well.

"She's definitely an Oaks filly."

Content, who is 33/1 for the Betfred Oaks following an underwhelming run in the French 1000 Guineas, is another possible for Ireland's champion trainer.

He said the daughter of Galileo was "too keen" at Longchamp because "she's better if there's plenty of pace on and she relaxes, and she didn't relax because there was no pace on."

He added: "Really she wasn't beaten that far, so she's going to leave that run behind her I'd imagine."

Some of the other O'Brien-trained horses in our antepost market are Opera Singer (16/1), Vanilla (16/1), Buttons (25/1), Fleetingly (33/1) and Mother Nature (33/1) - but note that none were mentioned to us on our recent press visit.
