Betfred Guineas Festival Sunday Tips: Lake Victoria to star on Rowley Mile

Sunday is the culmination of the Betfred Guineas Festival at Newmarket, with the fillies set to take centre stage on the Rowley Mile.
The Betfred 1000 Guineas is due off at 15:35 on Sunday, with 10 high-class fillies bidding for Classic glory at Newmarket, where they race from 13:45-17:20 with the Betfred Pretty Polly Stakes and the Betfred Dahlia Stakes also on the card. Below are my Betfred Guineas Festival Sunday Tips for the Newmarket action.
Betfred Guineas Festival Sunday Tips
Newmarket
13:45 – Janey Mackers @ 5/1
The opening Betfred Pretty Polly Stakes is a Listed contest over a mile-and-a-quarter, and it's likely to centre around impressive all-weather winner Falakeyah, the New Bay filly heading the betting for Owen Burrows at the time of writing.
She made short work of her rivals at Wolverhampton in November over a similar trip, but the horses she beat haven't managed to win a race between them in 10 attempts since.
She has an Oaks entry, but the Shadwell filly faces a tougher examination of her credentials now.
Another daughter of New Bay, JANEY MACKERS, could be the better prospect in this race for David Menuisier and Oisin Murphy.
She was beaten on debut at Yarmouth in October, finishing third, but showed the benefit of that run when easily winning a Class 2 Doncaster maiden (1m, soft) later that month.
That was a decent contest, and she's worthy of a crack in this higher grade now with the trainer/jockey in excellent form lately.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
14:55 – Oneforthegutter @ 12/1
North of £55k on offer to the winner of this Betfred Handicap, a stayers contest over a mile-and-three-quarters.
Penalised Musselburgh winner Kihavah looks up against it from a 4lb higher mark with top weight to shoulder now.
Liam Swagger ran a fine third in the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival in March over hurdles and has been third since at Chelmsford in a decent handicap over this trip, but perhaps ONEFORTHEGUTTER can do the business for Ian Williams and Billy Loughnane.
The Muhaarar gelding has a poor strike-rate on turf (2-23) but is fairly consistent and was a close third at Doncaster (1m4f, soft) when last spotted in the November Handicap.
He stays this distance no problem and can give each-way punters a run for their money.

15:35 – Lake Victoria @ 5/2
The main dish is, of course, the Betfred 1000 Guineas, and unbeaten stars Desert Flower for Charlie Appleby and LAKE VICTORIA for Aidan O'Brien are the headline acts.
Both have leading claims on their two-year-old form, with the Godolphin inmate impressive when taking the Fillies' Mile here, but Lake Victoria had a lot of substance to the form in her five-race winning sequence last season.
She has won here over 6f/7f on soft/good to firm and won't mind conditions. She signed off with a decisive win in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar in November, and her trainer is bidding to win this contest for the eighth time.
Ryan Moore and this Frankel filly are fancied to remain unbeaten and grab Classic glory
