Thursday Greyhounds Tips: A runner that’s a Rocket rocks Newcastle

1 pt 19:27 Newcastle – Droopys Bookem (T1) @ SP

All eyes on Newcastle this evening with Category Two and One final's taking place at the north east venue. At 19:27, look out for DROOPYS BOOKEM who lines up from T1 in the Arc Maiden Stayers open over the six-bend 640 metre trip. Droopys Bookem is better known as a four-bend performer and has mixed it with the best.

Tonight, on his first six-bend run since late May, Droopys Bookem looks plotted up to lead round on the rails and then use that four-bend pace to kick half a dozen clear. Once on the bunny, the Tom Heilbron-trained November 2022 son of Droopys Sydney will prove very hard to beat. Romeo Elite (T6) will be staying on well and can grab the forecast spot. Former Irish-based runner Proper Rockett (T2) could go well at a price, especially if she traps well and turns with the pace.

1 pt 21:11 Newcastle – Slingshot Poppy (T4) @ SP

The Category Two Arc Angel Of The North final at 21:11 looks at the mercy of flying machine SLINGSHOT POPPY who runs from T4. In the first round heats, Poppy pinged the lids and went onto record a twelve-length victory in 28.13. The October 2023 daughter of Grangeview Ten went even quicker in the semi-finals clocking 27.95 following a blistering 4.30 sectional.

Tonight, if the Brian Fairbairn-trained middle seed gets it right at the boxes this will be all over bar the shouting by time Poppy gets to the third bend. The forecast spot looks wide open with plenty in with live claims. Coppice Saphire (T1) and Newline Kielty (T2) can battle it out with both in with chances. Droopys Calla (T5) is another who could go well at a price.

1 pt 21:28 Newcastle – Deerjet Rocket (T2) @ SP

At 21:28 all eyes will be on the boxes as six greyhounds line up looking to land the Categroy One Time Northern Flat final run over the four-bend 480-metre trip at Newcastle. One that could go well at a price is Doncaster raider DEERJET ROCKET from T2. The James Gaskin-trained rails was ultra impressive over course and distance last week, clocking 28.35 following a smart 4.54 sectional, a repeat of that would put him bang there this evening.

In a competitive race the key will be the break and run into the first bend. It's imperative that Deerjet Rocket pings the lids and clears Ballymac Sargie (T1) at lid rise. Wicky Ned (T3) needs no introduction and is a huge danger. Bockos Buster is another who could go well from T4. Woltemade (T5) looks likely to start as the race favourite with the local runner in fine form following impressive wins in the heats and semi-finals of this competition.
