Thursday Greyhound Tips: All aboard for Star Pelaw

If greyhounds are your fancy, join our resident doyen of the dogs, Michael Smyth (@bettingjungle on X), as he turns his expert eye to Star Pelaw for today's racing. A trio of top tips await.

1 pt 18:29 Star Pelaw – Caseys Oisin (T4) @ SP

Three from Star Pelaw this evening on a competitive graded card featuring eight races in total with three sprints and five four-bend races taking place at the north-east venue. At 18:29 look out for CASEYS OISIN who lines up from T4 in the four-bend graded race over 435 metres. Oisin has only run four times at Star Pelaw following a move from Dunstall Park. Last time out, the December 2022 son of Malachi pinged the lids and went on to record 26.17 following a flashy 5.51 sectional.

That was a marked step forward on his previous Star Pelaw times and, with further improvement possible, Oisin looks a play this evening. The key to the race is what happens at the boxes, trap well and it’s race on. Cornerstone (T2) shows plenty of early pace in her races and could be the main rival into the first bend. Tickity Tilly (T1) will be staying on well and could be worth including in forecast bets.

1 pt 18:46 Star Pelaw – Mary Gee (T4) @ SP

The A6 graded race at 18:46 can go to the Glenn Foot-trained middle seed MARY GEE in T4. On competitive debut last week, the June 2024 daughter of Nametab Anubis trapped well and attempted to lead round but met trouble at the corner and finished sixth beaten just over thirteen lengths. Tonight, in a race lacking early pace, Mary Gee can lead round and once on the bunny, the youngster can kick for home and prove hard to peg back.

Mary Gee has clocked 26.58 in a course and distance trial, a repeat of that puts her bang there and with plenty of improvement to come from the youngster, she looks a solid bet this evening. Caseys Babs (T2) and Spy Master (T6) can fight it out for the forecast spot. Belle Midnight (T3) is a kennelmate to the selection and lines up with chances, she’s worth noting in the market.

1 pt 19:24 Star Pelaw – Saltees Kayla (T3) @ SP

The third and final selection at Star Pelaw this evening is SALTEES KAYLA who runs from T3 in the D2 graded sprint at 19:24. Kayla looks well-drawn this evening with Keeperhill Ei Ei (T1) often moderately into stride, a vacant box in T2 and Trevors Star (T4) keeping middle.

If the September 2023 daughter of Tullig Raven brings her trapping boots, she can lead round and make all. Keeperhill Ei Ei chased home the selection over course and distance back on February 15 when beaten two lengths. The railer can once again fill the forecast spot behind Kayla. Luminous Busty (T6) bolted up last time out, clocking 14.91 when making all. The wide seed would be a danger to all with another smart exit.
