Group F is still wide open in the Africa Cup of Nations 2024, and Zambia will secure a place in the knockout stages if they can beat group leaders, and World Cup semi-finalists Morocco.

The Stade de San Pedro is the venue for this one, with kick-off at 20:00 on Wednesday night. Below we have taken a look at this match-up and come up with a couple of selections.

Zambia vs Morocco Tips

  • Over 1.5 Morocco goals @ 11/8
  • Morocco to win and BTTS @ 11/4

Team News

Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui is likely to miss this group stage match having been left out of the squad against DR Congo due to injury. For Zambia, Roderick Kabwe will miss this one having been sent off against Tanzania, while the star names of Patson Daka and Achrif Hakimi both fit to start this crucial encounter.

Match Odds

Morocco are the clear favourites to win this game, priced at 1/2 for the win while Zambia are the outsiders at 5/1. A draw can be backed at 11/4, BTTS is EVS and over 2.5 goals is also EVS

Over 1.5 Morocco goals @ 11/8

There’s not too much value in backing Walid Regragui’s team to win this game, but I believe Morocco will take the three points and make it into the knockout stages as group winners. We saw during the 2022 World Cup just how dangerous Morocco can be and there is a growing feeling that they can go all the way at the AFCON.

They are currently priced as the 7/2 second favourites behind Senegal and, given they have not won this competition since 1976, will be desperate to top their group and get a favourable draw in the round of 16. There’s a lot to like about this Morocco squad, in particular the front three of Hakim Ziyech, Soufiane Boufal and Youssef En-Nesyri have the talent and cohesion to tear apart any side in this competition, and it could be a long night for Zambia.

The over 1.5 Morocco goals angle is one I particularly like, at odds of 11/8. It gives us the flexibility to account for any result, as long as Morocco score at least two goals. Given they have scored four across their two matches so far, it’s a pick I’m happy to get behind.

Morocco to win and BTTS @ 11/4

As previously explained, I think Morocco will win this game, and score a minimum of two goals in the process. But I think underestimating this Zambia team would be a mistake, given what we have seen so far. Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant is in charge and they are unbeaten, with two 1-1 draws giving them an outside chance of qualification.

The pace of Patson Daka is going to be crucial for them here. The Leicester City striker bagged a late equaliser vs Tanzania and I believe against Morocco, he could catch the African giants out on the break. Morocco are likely to win this game, but the price of 11/4 on Morocco to win and BTTS is also a good option.
