With RB Leipzig and Manchester City dominating Group G, Young Boys and Red Star have little hope of making the Champions League knockout round.

However, one of them can stay in Europe after Christmas, with this clash effectively functioning as a play-off for the group’s Europa League spot.

Young Boys vs Red Star Prediction

  • Both teams to score & draw @ 16/5
  • Oscar Bukari to score anytime @ 13/5

Team News

Sandro Lauper’s red card in his last European game means he’s suspended for Young Boys’ final home game in this group, while the hosts are also without Cedric Itten and Kastriot Imeri.

Red Star have a clean bill of health for this trip and they are expected to stick with their usual 3-5-2 system.

Match Odds

Young Boys are priced at 11/10 to secure a win on home turf, with the draw available at 13/5, while a win of the Serbian visitors is a 9/4 shot.

A repeat of their 2-2 draw from earlier in the group can’t be ruled out and that’s available at 11/1.

Both teams to score & draw @ 16/5

These two sides shared the spoils back in October, which is the only point they have to show after four rounds of action. Both teams have been comprehensively beaten by both Leipzig and City, but they also caused each other problems.

The first encounter between the pair saw 38 shot attempts in total, with 15 on target. The pair combined for an Expected Goals tally of 5.4, which is the highest of any match across this season’s group stage.

It’s safe to say that more goals will follow on Tuesday, with both teams scoring in each of Red Star’s games this season. Young Boys may have home advantage, but they’ve conceded at least twice across every game in this group.

That draw in October was the fifth time these two have met in European competition and it was the fourth draw they’ve shared. Each of those four draws have seen both teams score and their form so far points to another high-scoring, yet close, contest.

There’s little between these two sides and, with a 0-0 unlikely, look to this to finish as a score draw at 16/5.

Oscar Bukari to score anytime @ 13/5

With plenty of goals expected, this should be a good game when it comes to anytime goalscorer selections. Young Boys winger Meschack Elia has scored in the Swiss side’s two home games in this group and he’s a great option to net for the hosts.

Also side with Red Star’s Oscar Bukari to find the net in this contest, with the forward scoring in two of their four games so far.

He also has five league goals to his name after netting a brace at the weekend, so he meets one of the Champions League’s worst defences having returned to form.
