Club World Cup Team Betting Predictions: Wydad AC

Wydad AC are historically a giant on the African continent, and they will look to make an impression on the world stage when they travel to the Club World Cup this month. However, they've just sacked manager Rhulani Mokwena, with Mohamed Amine Benhachem taking the reins ahead of the tournament.
It looks like a difficult task for them at the time of writing, but in the first edition of this expanded tournament, they will want to cause a shock or two. Just look at what Morocco did at the 2022 World Cup. Below you can find my Wydad AC Fifa Club World Cup 2025 predictions.
Club World Cup Team Betting Predictions - Wydad AC
Club World Cup Team Betting Predictions: Wydad AC
Group G: Wydad AC, Manchester City, Al Ain, Juventus
Fixtures: Manchester City vs Wydad AC (June 18, 17:00 BST), Juventus vs Wydad AC (June 22, 17:00 BST), Wydad AC vs Al Ain (June 26, 20:00 BST).
Wydad AC are giants of the sport in Morocco, and qualified for this tournament having won the CAF Champions League in 2022 against Al Ahly. However, just one year later Al Ahly claimed their revenge as the two teams met again in the final, this time with the Egyptians coming out on top.
It means both clubs will feature in the United States of America, but Wydad come into this competition with a whole lot of history behind them. They were by far the most successful African team of the 20th century, winning 22 league titles in addition to nine Throne Cups and 16 Super Cups.
When competing against the continent they have added three CAF Champions League trophies, one CAF Super Cup, one African Cup Winners’ Cup, one Afro-Asian Club Championship title, one Mohammed V Cup, three North African Championship titles, and one North African Cup to their tally. Some haul.
It means they certainly have the pedigree to be at this competition, although they have been handed a pretty tough draw, as they come up against Manchester City and Juventus in their opening two matches.
Their domestic season finished at the start of May as they finished third in the league behind champions RS Berkane and AS FAR, while it’s now been three seasons since they last won the title. Having sacked Mokwena, they will need to work hard to regain that crown and prove themselves to be top dogs in Morocco after a couple of seasons of underperforming.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Player to watch: Cassius Mailula
On loan from Toronto FC in Canada, Cassius Mailula has emerged as Wydad’s key player this season due to his attacking output. Last month he received some tragic news as his mother passed away on Mother’s Day, and he has had some time away from the club to travel back to South Africa to mourn.
However, he is now set to travel to the Club World Cup with his side, as his loan expires at the end of July. He’s a bright forward who at the age of 23 is attracting admirers. This season he has scored five goals and bagged seven assists from 20 starts in the league, and it feels as though this could be his breakout tournament. I’m hopeful he will catch the eye.

Wydad AC to qualify from Group G @ 11/1
These are the odds available on Wydad to qualify from their group but in truth, I can’t see it happening at all. Even if Juventus and Man City rotate heavily, they should have more than enough to secure wins over the Moroccan outfit, and while their fixture against Al Ain is one they can win, it won’t be enough.
To give you some perspective of their underdog status, they are 28/1 to beat Manchester City in that opener. Getting one point on the board should be the aim, with that final fixture against Al Ain likely to be a dead rubber when it rolls around.
