Wolves vs Brentford Prediction: Bees to come out on top

Brentford suffered a huge blow in their quest to finish eighth in the Premier League last weekend as they let two leads slip at home to Fulham as they lost to the Cottagers. They need to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Sunday (16:00) to have any chance of qualifying for the Uefa Conference League, but it's not completely in their hands.
Read on for my Wolves vs Brentford predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Wolves are sweating over the fitness of in-form striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, who suffered a knock during the 4-2 defeat at Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.
As a result of the Norwegian's problems, Hwang Hee-Chan may be called upon by Vitor Pereira to lead the line for the Old Gold.
Sam Johnstone and Tommy Doyle remain frozen out of the first-team picture, with the latter recently picking up a knock which is keeping him from participating in training.
The hosts remain without the services of long-term absentees Sasa Kalajdzic (ACL), Enso Gonzalez (knee) and Leon Chiwome (knee) ahead of Sunday's season finale.
Matheus Cunha is reportedly off to Manchester United in the summer as the Red Devils are set to pay his release clause, so the Brazilian could be set for his final Wolves appearance on Sunday - but his antics this term have alienated some of the supporters against him.
Wolves vs Brentford Stats
- Brentford have won four of their last five games
- BTTS has struck in four of the Bees' past six matches
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has revealed that defender Aaron Hickey is set to feature in a matchday squad for the first time in 18 months, which is a huge boost for the Bees ahead of next season.
The Scotsman is back in contention after suffering a serious hamstring injury in October 2023, although Keane Lewis-Potter is expected to start at left-back once again, due to Hickey's lack of match fitness. This is also good news for Lewis-Potter, though, as he will likely get a shot of tussling for the attacking left position next term.
Veteran Ben Mee played his final match for the club versus Fulham last weekend, with the centre-back not part of the first-team plans for Sunday.
The attacking quartet of Mikkel Damsgaard, Kevin Schade, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa should remain intact for the trip to the West Midlands.
Wolves have won three of their last four home games but are winless in their latest appearances in the league. They are 15/8 to end the season with a victory.
Brentford have drawn one of their past three away trips in the top flight and the stalemate is on offer at 11/4. The Bees are 11/8 (which has an implied probability of 42.1%) to pick up the three points, having won four of their previous five outings in the Premier League.
Both teams to score has struck in four of the visitors' last six matches in the league and is priced at 4/9.
Brentford attackers Mbeumo and Wissa both have the chance to end the season with 20 league goals, with the pair sitting on 19 apiece heading into Sunday. They are 6/4 and 7/5 respectively to score anytime at Molineux.
Brentford to win @ 11/8
Wolves' main objective this season was to maintain their Premier League status and they have accomplished that under Pereira, who joined midway through the campaign.
It wasn't too difficult given the poor quality of the bottom three sides this term but Pereira has still done an impressive job. However, the last few weeks have shown that there is still work to be done with three consecutive defeats - although this could just be the players already thinking about their summer holidays.
They have nothing to play for on Sunday but Brentford do. The Bees need to win, while hoping Brighton & Hove Albion lose to Tottenham Hotspur so that they can finish the season in eighth as they boast a better goal difference.
This is because the team that finishes eighth may qualify for the Uefa Conference League if Chelsea win the competition and either they finish seventh (This would happen if the Blues lose at Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa get at least a draw at Manchester United, or Chelsea finish sixth and Newcastle United finish seventh (This would happen if Chelsea lose at Forest, Villa get at least a draw at Man Utd and Newcastle lose at home to Everton by three more goals than Chelsea lose at Forest, so they fall below Chelsea on goal difference).
It's messy and in need of a lot to go in Brentford's favour, but they can only focus on themselves on Sunday and I think they will have more than enough quality to beat a Wolves side who are already acting as if the season is over. The Bees have also won four of their last five games in the league, too, so they are in great form.

Both teams to score @ 4/9
Wolves may be on the beach but I think both teams to score is worth backing on Sunday, particularly as it delivered in the reverse fixture between the two teams which Brentford won 5-3 back in October.
BTTS has also been a successful bet in six of Wolves' past 11 outings in the Premier League, including their trip to Crystal Palace in midweek.
For Brentford, there have been goals at both ends in four of their previous six appearances in the league, including their home defeat to Fulham last weekend.
